  1. Nothing official. Paramedics said he had no signs of life.
  2. Another Qservative media fail... But a review of clearer video from the ceremony makes it clear no mistake was made. While one recipient was given his medal framed, Biden fastened the three other medals around each recipient’s neck, fastening them at the back of the neck with the medal extending down on the chest. AP images of the moment the medal was placed around Birdwell’s neck also show that Biden positioned it properly. https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-biden-medal-of-honor-video-439374153701
  3. They're going to be in Richmond on the 20th. Unfortunately I'll be in Detroit that week.
  4. Back in the ‘60s and 70s there was a Rep and later Senator from Virginia, William Scott. The first elected Republican to the Senate from the state since Reconstruction. He was dubbed the Dumbest Person in Congress. One story had it that during a security briefing on The Soviet Union he chided the briefing officer about talking about silos. “I don’t care about farms. I want to know about missiles” He was a genus compared to some of the so called Conservatives running or holding office now
  5. She’s definitely a Putin asset. Unfit for office Also on the Trump Crime Family payroll. I wonder if they have video
  6. He's about 140, still might hit more than Grossman

  8. You have to be a member of the party to participate. Sound familiar? Germany in the 1930s, Russia under Stalin et all?
  9. It's not just DeSantis. Another POTUS wannabe has similar ideas.
  10. Especially since there are so many GOP choices.
  11. The Trumpublican candidate for Grand Poobah of Pennsylvania's platform on elections... https://morningshots.thebulwark.com/p/a-crisis-of-patriotism If a Democrat had proposed this our resident TrumpBot would be up in arms. instead he's probably speechless.
  12. The United States did not have a professional standing army in 1791. At best the military could be akin to the National Guard. Basically any able bodied free white male could be conscripted into service by way of a local draft if necessary (they could also buy their way out as many did in the Civil War). A constant standing army wasn't around until the early 1800's. Well regulated militia basically meant that the volunteers needed to be ready in case there was a need. To be in fighting shape. Once the US established a regular full time militia the term basically became moot, imo.
  13. Reportedly two officers shot During fireworks show edited to change status of police
  14. If you're looking for some light campy TV check out Bathtubs Over Broadway on Neflex. It's a look at the world of industrial musicals of a time not so long ago...
  15. One of my favorite lines from the story
  16. Damn, I thought that was Amedeo Obici (Founder of Planters Peanuts)
  17. Re slavery, I learned something today during a presentation at Colonial Williamsburg. I only caught part of the story as we were just resting under the giant oak for a bit. Anyway, during the pre Revolutionary times slaves could buy their freedom if they could afford to. They still needed permission from the Colonial Governor and pay a "Freedom Tax". The tax was good for 6 years and the rate increased incrementally every time. If they couldn't afford the tax, back into bondage. Interesting that part of history never came up when we were taught in high school 50 years ago. I doubt that it comes up today.
  18. I'd throw VaTech into the mix as well. Very similar to MSU educationally. Like UVa borderline in sports. They're competitive, not great.
  19. Nothing shows respect for the flag than over commercializing it
