Just an aside. I mentioned the Semisesquacentennial the other day. Colonial Williamsburg has been featuring programs "recreating" events along with discussions leading up to meetings of the Continental Congress and the beginning of the War.
Its been quite interesting looking back at the events thru the lens of the present. The more things change....

Next year is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. There had been hope that the celebrations might come close to rivaling those in 1976 for the 200th anniversary.
Many of the organizations that were part of the individual state celebrations are now having to deal with DOGE budget cuts.

My dad and granddad didn't drink. Uncles on my mother's side would do so at family picnics. The beverage of choice back then was Iron City. Quite easy not to acquire the habit at a young age.

We went a few times when it first opened. Our son was at MSOE and we would drive up from the Chicago suburbs to catch a game. Good sight lines. I did prefer the atmosphere better when it was open, but it was ok closed
