  1. Just my 2 cents but... Against lefties I'd like to see Rogers at the 6 spot and Baez in the 7 spot. And against righties Rogers 7 and Baez 8 or 9.
  2. And I would prefer one Top-3 from an Org, one top-20-25 in an Org... and then the 3rd can be whatever lottery ticket is allowed...
  3. Wow...! EXACTLY the point of just playing the game today...!
  4. He's moving up to AAA? Or just having another monster day...?
  5. Oppenheimer is playing the long game. They don't care about a 1 or 2 weekend not-leading box office. Barbie is a huge fad and will die down quickly. That being said... I was deciding on Indiana Jones vs. MI vs. Oppenheimer this weekend. I want to see all 3. But I do not like jam-packed theatres so I don't mind waiting a couple weeks so a crowd dies down. But I still check anyways... Mission Impossible and Oppenheimer were packed in every time slot, every day, every theatre this weekend (I'm close enough to 3 different AMC's...). I saw Indiana Jones. Empty theatre except me so I had it all to myself. The movie was GREAT! They did a great job. I'm guessing the theatres will be filled perfectly (under half-full) where I'll want to see MI in a week or two... and Oppenheimer a week or two after that. I'm sorry... What were you saying about this Barbie-thing? I do remember my sister playing Barbie's a little bit but my memory is really hazy on that. For some reason... I seem to remember my GI Joe much better... But... back to Oppenheimer: You'll be hearing Oppenheimer pretty heavily, IMO, over the next 8 weeks or so. Just a guess.
  6. Good day for Jobe... CHEERS!
  7. What's COMICAL about DPS's meme'd diatribes against losing western equipment is that nearly ALL of it (95-ish% ?) survives Russian attacks, and is currently being repaired in Poland, western Ukraine, Slovakia, and Romania... and being PUT BACK INTO SERVICE. Oh, and it has saved thousands of Ukrainian servicemen's lives too... Yeah, that's important. But... someone so bent on Pro-Russian Propaganda usually doesn't even know this because they are too hell-bent on spewing Putin's Propaganda. Which I find despicable. Either that... or it's even with the knowledge that they are spewing lies, or half-truths, or just don't care that the messaging is full of ****.
  8. Both 19th round picks... and OF/DH types... Some similarities there. Couple key differences: Bigbie has played mostly OF and DH but has also played 88 games at 1B (24 in 2021 and 64 in 2022)... he could back up there I guess... And is RH'ed versus Kerry's LH'ed.
  9. I got reamed for being pro-Cody Ross-for-Steve Colyer trade back in the day. I understood what DD was shooting for... Cody was a productive player at a certain level but DD was hunting late innings domination. Obviously, Colyer/ DD/ (and myself) flopped on that point... The point I am making now is that, if Kerry Carpenter gets traded, it better be to improve the team. One or two key guys in return that seriously increase the talent of the Detroit Tigers, and not Toledo or Erie with crap results in MLB. If we trade away a productive talent for a couple of lottery tickets that flop into nothing... we lost value. I learned my lesson on that... although you still take chances on trades like that (same direction or in REVERSE), such as Paredes for Mathews. But... we better win this one if there's a possibility of it happening... IMO. I don't want to trade JD for crap, but we did. I was OK with trading Ross for Colyer. But that ended up crap. So did trading Suarez. I don't want to trade Kerry for crap. So if the intent is to IMPROVE the talent level of the Tigers... what team is actually out there that would be willing to give us a top prospect or two for Kerry that will improve the Tigers? Because I don't see it. I don't see any offer possible (go ahead and show me one) for Kerry Carpenter the DH that makes our team better, now or in the future. He just doesn't carry that kind of trade value. So... the ONLY result we can get for trading Carpenter, is a loss in talent. No gain. IMO. And for that reason, I have no interest whatsoever in trading Kerry. But... sure, blow my doors off with a trade. A 100% guarantee of a win. Show me that and I might change my mind. Until then...
  10. And I understand that as well... "All the best laid plans of mice and men..." Which is... sort of... where Putin is at right now, in fact.
  11. I would love a backlash by Poland swarming through Belarus all the way to the Russian border... sweeping aside all fascist forces, and taking control of the country... Let Putin react to that. Oh, and BTW, with that... bye-bye Lukashenko and hello Democracy in Belarussia. Another new candidate for EU and NATO... Putin can cry in his pivo. And drown his sorrows with a shot of vodka or three.
  12. This thread is very, very, very easy to read: "You've chosen to ignore content by digitalpigsmuggler. Options You've chosen to ignore content by digitalpigsmuggler. Options You've chosen to ignore content by digitalpigsmuggler. Options You've chosen to ignore content by digitalpigsmuggler. Options "
  13. Any places to stay that are NOT too expensive...?
  14. I'm just going to WAG that in the NBA and NFL, hiring an agent is basically a "done deal" that the prospect is going pro... one way or the other. In MLB, that's not necessarily true. If there's no pro agreement that they like (it's not enough money to convince them), they go to (or back to) college and forego any pro money. Which is a very real possibility. Unlike the NBA or NFL which is pretty much, like I said, a "done deal".
  15. It depends on what the offers are...
  16. And yet, we're 8 games under .500 at roughly 60% of the season... Not a horrible spot for the Org even despite all the problems (injuries, lack of O, etc...)
  17. I turned on Avila when he drafted Jobe over Mayer. I was beside myself with... But I calmed down and said "ok, maybe he turns into Clemens or whatever..." And then it was at least encouraging when he signed Baez, Eduardo and Chafin before 2022. But I was still way beyond miffed that he passed on Mayer to take Jobe, I don't give a hot damn about the ****ing spin rates. Excuse my language. But the lack of response to 2022, the lack of depth, another weak-trade-deadline (and I actually like the Fulmer for Gipson-Long trade...) but overall... such weak trade deadlines by a very weak trader-NOT-Dave... and the foot-dragging on giving Kerry at least a shot at hitting MLB pitching... Led to a crapload of nails in the coffin for me. Not just one nail... But multiple. When they dumped him and hired Harris... I was ready for it. Yessiree Scott.
  18. I think worst case in evaluating Avila begins with: He started to put in place some of the pieces required to move this organization in the right direction (Caesar, analytics, PD, etc.). He picked a lot of players who MIGHT be a part of the next Tigers playoff-contending team. He definitely lucked getting Hinch, which pushed the Org further towards both analytics, and understanding how to use them. In the end, he was probably in over his head. Not a good trader. Didn't have a full understanding of how to actually utilize analytics. Was too late, too little, and too lazy (fell in love with his acquisitions and did very low levels of churn for an organization that NEEDED it...). And got the chopping block. But if all he did was point us in the right direction and take a few baby steps... And Harris gets us all the way back... I can live with that. (And I've been a higher supporter of Avila, at least prior to 2022... then most.)
  19. With an outside shot of Parker Meadows, Dillon Dingler, Ty Madden, Jobe, Jung.
  20. PS: We can only hope.
  21. Counterpoint: Ukraine has retaken 180 sq. kilometers in the south and has retaken 30 sq. kilometers surrounding Bakhmut. Ukraine is on the verge of cutting off Russians in Bakhmut from retreat or resupply. Bakhmut. Putin's greatest victory in Ukraine over the past YEAR. Bakhmut. On the verge of 15,000 surrendering Russian military troops. Russian military performance under Vladimir Putin: What a ****ing humiliation.
  22. And then came Long Live Mike Maroth.
  23. There are player-for-player (MLB) swaps, and there are trades for blocked prospects stuck at AA or AAA that I think would fit this definition. Alex made an attempt in a post just above us...
  24. Yeah... Not ready, yet.
