  1. This. Offer the extension... And then if there's no interest... I'm of the mind that Harris will be blown away by a couple of offers. From the Philles/ Dodgers, specifically. But if those offers aren't forthcoming, and Boras/Skubal say "no" to the Tigers offer... Then we will just have to live with Skubal pitching for the Tigers in 2026 and the comp pick after the end of the season when he walks in FA... I can live with that. . . . I would prefer a "Godfather" offer though...
  2. That's my favorite view. "Umpire-Cam" they called it...
  3. Especially if the Tigers score Bert's 6 runs in the 3rd.
  4. Ya' know... Skubal finished pitching on Tuesday around 3PM. Counting by hours... he'd actually have roughly 4 days rest at Saturday game time in Seattle; especially if it's a Seattle 7PM-ish start... Just guessing... Hinch is going to ask Skubes if he wants to start Saturday.
  5. I wish they'd make one big swing at a guy. Apparently, CB is a lot harder to fill than an extra pass-rusher. Plus we can draft and develop pass-rushing from multiple positions (DT, DE, blitz-LB'er or blitz-Safety...) Please swing for the fences Brad. One guy. One CB. My preferences: One big CB that is at least 6'0" or more. Preferably more. That can take on a bigger WR. And can tackle. And actually breaks up passes or gets INT's. I would love to get a Sauce Gardner (not possible at all... just sayin'...) Next on my list (picking guys only on losing teams), not in any particular order (actually, I put Stingley at the top of the list as he'd be my #1 "WANT this guy"): Texans - Derek Stingley, Jr. Giants - Paulson Adebo Giants - Deonte Banks Cowboys - DaRon Bland Bears - Tyrique Stevenson (yeah I'd even do a trade with the Bears though at 2-2 and intradivision they say no...) Texans - Kamari Lassiter Titans - L'Jarius Sneed Saints - Alontae Taylor Panthers - Jaycee Horn? (injured a lot... could be had for cheap?) Panthers - Mike Jackson Would anyone offer two 1sts and anything else it took to get Stingley? Just wonderin'... Because... I would. Even though all the other guys on the list would be so much cheaper.
  6. "Genborg is 18 years old and absolutely manhandling grown men at the net front." EXACTLY what we need.
  7. Even if he never got a twinge this season and was 100% the entire year: Winning or in the top 2 or 3 Cy Young candidates two years in a row puts a huge (trade) premium on him. Some teams will be willing to pay that trade premium, others not. Referencing the injury... if not this year, then always the possibility in a future year... And there's always the danger that he declines during his next contract. A big danger there. IF... We were to receive an overpay offer with at least a couple/ a few very high-end future talents, and at least a couple guys "MLB-ready"... I couldn't say no to that. Not that I'm the Tigers GM or anything like that...
  8. EEPHUS pitches! And Slater gets a couple of GB outs with it... HAHA!!!
  9. OK... I'm not even going to try to keep this up as Keith just hits a 2-run HR...
  10. Bert. Plus a two-point conversion. Errrrr... wait... Change that: Bert plus a FG.
  11. Is this a $20 pool? $20 on 2 minutes 38 seconds.
  12. As long as it includes a golden toilet (as his throne)... You win the internet.
  13. Can I wager HUGE money that Trump was given immunity from the FBI to avoid criminal prosecution and to try to take down Epstein? But did they have the correct target of investigation? Why not both? Hmmm....
  14. I agree with all of this. Not impossible... But not too realistic. Exactly as you've stated.
  15. Oh... On your top 10 pitcher next year comment... Maybe. Maybe not. A few starts in AAA this year say NOTHING of whether he struggles in MLB next year or takes the league by storm. He could just as easily be a top 10 pitcher, as struggle... But I think the odds would be in your favor. I just wouldn't rule him out absolutely... which... I think you are doing.
  16. But a team could build a 5-10 year future with him... Even if he starts out slowly next year... ala Verlander's first year. Gotta start somewhere.
  17. That should be the tell for what Pacheco actually could become...
  18. That would be great if true. We could search for a more effective #2 this offseason. Or at least I hope that's Harris's #1 priority (aside from Skubal's extension)
  19. "Bump in the road". Don't mean a thang.
  20. Well... That shows Finnegan and Montero with unsustainable BABIP's... Couple other comments: Our two are still doing STUPENDOUS!!! Regardless. And: I would have loved one of Miller or Duran or Bednar... but not at the trade costs that it took. Summary: Harris did GOOD (not superb... but very good...) at the deadline. IMO. And I'm glad he protected our top prospects.
  21. This is exactly my point. Yzerman's attempts at getting tougher have included: 2023: Signing 24 y.o. Klim Kostin, C. Big dude (6'4" 235)... but failed at providing either adequate offense or defense so we traded him to San Jose. Drafting a crapload of big, mobile defenseman in the top 4 rounds: (2019 Seider & Tuomisto, 2020 Wallinder & Viro, 2021 Edvinsson & Buium, 2022 Anton Johansson, 2023 Andrew Gibson & Brady Cleveland & Larry Keenan, 2024 & 2025 (no top 4-round D...)) a couple of whom are in Detroit, a few lower rounders have crapped out or been traded, and quite a few are in Grand Rapids so we are waiting to see if any of the non-1st rounders can make the leap into "decent-to-good" NHL blueliner. A common theme with the GR group however, is that they do not play with the NHL toughness that is required. So we'll see about them. Whether they make the cut or not. Drafted two-way forwards the past few years who may not be the biggest guys on the block... But are 6'0" to 6'2", who have some offensive skill, but are moreso "known" or have the reputation of being... sound defensive forwards. Marco Kasper, Nate Danielson, MBN, Carter Bear, Eddie Genborg... These guys aren't mirror images of each other... but I believe they are cut from the same cloth: Sound defensively. I mean, they drafted ASP and Buchelnikov (2022) and Raymond so... if the SKILL is there, you don't pass up that high level skill, even if the player is a bit undersized. But, yeah... Yzerman is still working on solving this. Methinks. OR... I guess I am calling this a "work-in-progress" and... we'd all like to see a LOT more progress on the playoff toughness side... Just my 2 cents.
