  1. Still hold onto Hronek though, for now, as he's young enough that the "light bulb" may still turn on. Or at least I'd want a newer young guy coming up to push him out the door rather than just dumping him. Stecher is no great shakes either... I wouldn't be counting on him to give any kind of boost to the D. And the same reason that Hronek is held onto, youth and not much else, is the same reason that we hold onto Lindstrom. At least Lindstrom is breaking even on the +/-, although, I don't know if that really says anything. But maybe he can take over for Staal as the defense-first guy who has more of a positive impact on the ice than negative... we'll see. The real solution to fixing this defense is having several prospects actually make it to the NHL and be impactful, or more than impactful. That pushes guys like Hronek, Stecher and Lindstrom either lower in the pairings, or off the ice mostly, or onto another team or, maybe, into being better players through competition. We'll see... on all of this as it will take a few years for guys to come up. But what really helps is not just Edvinsson coming up and making a major impact but, Lindstrom/ Hronek improving, McIsaac coming up and being successful, and/or at least a couple of Tuomisto, Buium, Johansson, Sebrango, or Wallinder making it into the NHL and being impactful for the team We're not going to find out how this resolves itself for at least a couple years though... So.. it sucks to say this but... patience?
  2. I'm taking it from a "who do you keep" perspective as we'll need 8 defenseman regardless... and we don't have enough kids coming up to take all of those spots... not yet at least. So who do you keep, or let go, in order of preference, out of these vets: Staal Leddy DeKeyser Oesterle
  3. No doubt whatsoever. Just lies intended to obscure their fascism in any way possible. But all the possible ways of their intended coup are now being brought to light.
  4. Yeah I'm on board with that. Screw all these lotteries. I don't like them.
  5. Detroit Red Wings, 20-21-6, 6-12-3 AWAY ESPN+ 2/9 7:00 PM Philadelphia Flyers, 15-22-8, 8-10-4 HOME
  6. To War or Not to War: The tightrope Putin now finds himself, and NATO/Biden/Ukraine/U.S./Europe by proximity, walking: https://www.yahoo.com/news/putin-could-slam-head-tumble-095821356.html
  7. Putin loves boot-lickers.
  8. PS: I'm guessing Yzerman will try to re-sign him. The one veteran actually helping out the defense.
  9. They'll try to trade them at the deadline but I don't see much of a market for either... Always need depth so maybe we can keep Oesterle in the 8th defenseman spot next year... Unless Stevie decides to do something different over the summer...
  10. There are QB's in every single draft (obviously some are better than others...) so... I am fully on board with building this team up and then grabbing the right QB at the right time... Even if we finish in the 12-ish draft pick range next year and have to trade (3) 1sts + more to go up and get whoever is the 2nd QB between Young and Stroud if they are our true QB of the future... When it comes time to pay the price to get our QB we just... Pay the price.
  11. Sweet Tuzzi deflection...! And thanks for that. How soon can we move on from DeKeyser and Oesterle? And Leddy? Staal is a keeper, at least he's a defensive defenseman that can still do his job. Can McIsaac and Edvinsson make the team next year? Edvinsson is a bit young but...
  12. He has room to get better so we'll see what happens over the next few years. Yikes to us if he turns into Josh Allen...
  13. These are nice clips! Keep 'em coming!
  14. Yeah... we need these secondary guys to make improvements though so, Please more of it... Hronek, Lindstrom, Zadina, Ras... would help if they could just get better...
  15. We can only hope. Nobody wants war. Well... Putin did. Uncertain if he still wants it or if he'll take the offer that the U.S. is giving him (after pushing for as much as he can get with his saber rattling...).
  16. Or he was just tweaking your nose with that... There's a lot of tweaking in this place...
  17. Biden threatened a comprehensive microchip embargo (including non-US companies using US chip mfg. equipment and/ or technologies...). That would grab his attention. Germany squawked about dropping Nord 2 but I don't know if they were serious about that. Probably not. But if they were... another attention getter. I want a serious threat of removing them from SWIFT. Putin may think he has a way to get around that but... another attention getter. Although Europe suffers quite a bit from this too as they get cut-off from Russia (paying for Russian nat-gas) as much as Russia gets cut off from the rest of the (normal) finance world. And the last attention getter is the unified voice against their potential aggression by, not only NATO, but also other non-NATO countries as well... And this doesn't even count Ukraine's willingness to fight tooth and nail against another Russian invasion/ theft of their territory. Weapons flooding in from all over... troops being built up in surrounding countries... Non-NATO countries stating they'll think about joining NATO now... I think Putin is overplaying his hand. I wonder if he realizes it at this point.
  18. Yogi Berra is way, way too high on that list. Another heavy New York bias. Better than Jimmie Foxx, Nolan Ryan and George Brett? Really?
  19. The 'Mandies? How's that work...?
  20. On that basis I am an: Anti-racist. No let me restate that: I am virulently anti-racist. I've been tossed out of a few relatives homes (verbally, not physically) by retorting to a racist comment with a patented 1984Echoes stream of invective. And I'm not shy about that either. Nor am I kind. If anyone thinks what I state in here is bad... do not meet me in person, with racist comments at the ready. I will verbally shred the skin off of a racist. I am not a non-racist or color blind. I'm a raging anti-racist. I didn't realize that was a thing going around because I've defined myself that way for a long time (starting in 1998 when I got tossed out of my Aunt's house (mom's sister) for calling her a _______ _______ ________ _______ __________ _________ _______ _____ when she wouldn't stop using the n-word). However, I do not fight every battle or look for racism around every corner. With my entire family white trash bigots (they're not white trash... but they are mostly bigots) I let quite a few things go in one ear and out the other. I guess I pick my battles. But on the basis of awarding draft picks... I don't think "anti racist" is definable. I just wasn't thinking of that in terms of an organization because while I've defined myself as an anti-racist for quite a long time... I don't see how Organizations can be defined that way so it didn't occur to me they were the same thing. I would prefer "minority opportunities". Maybe on an organizational ranking basis, the most diverse or non-discriminatory Orgs by some ranking could get 3rd through 7th round picks. Say the top 6 Orgs...
  21. PS: I spent middle school and high school in Gehringer's hometown...
  22. Yeah I don't think that's the correct wording... Along the lines of a reward system for "minority opportunities". But I don't know how that would work either... based on some ranking system? As others have mentioned it shouldn't be HC's only but, rather, all coaches, maybe the front office personnel, etc...? Just on semantics alone though... I think I have the better semantics there...
  23. This is what will happen If/When the Dems lose midterms: The loss of our Democracy: https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-pushing-gop-jan-6-100826189.html
  24. This Ignore option is not really working all that well because I see a constant stream of quotes from this person. And it's almost all poisonous. IMO.
