  1. "Masters of the Air" was pretty good from my perspective as an Air Force history dweeb who actually thinks the combined bomber offensive was necessary to win the war. "Rogue Heroes" about the SAS made by the "Peaky Blinders" folks is uneven (like Peaky Blinders) but contains greatness. There is a scene in the final episode of the past season when they return from Italy to Britain. One of the worst afflicted NCOs is unable physically to ring his own doorbell and just sits down on the corner in front of his house despondent and his wife runs out and greets him in sympathy.
  2. 1943 was a weird year in America. Not quite winning the war (we were but didn't have the satisfying offensive wins to prove it) and race strife in LA and Detroit and elsewhere because of the rapid economic shifts of the war economy. As an aside, can you imagine getting up in a propeller driven aircraft with squad sized unit to fly into Nazi Germany with little fighter protection to prove a theory of strategic bombing. With a 10% chance of being shot down each mission.
  3. Nina Jankowicz: "If you read one thing today, make it this. Our current Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy, who for years has shared conspiracy theories and misogynist, racist dreck, who shut down the State Dept’s counter disinfo unit, has some rather suspicious connections to Russia. archive.is/Q818Z" — Bluesky
  4. Marco, you have a problem Trump official who shut down Russia propaganda unit has links to Kremlin
  5. If this were me...the leader of Russia would be dead on Wednesday. POTUS would be impeached.
  6. also, the reference to Taters is possibly hibernophobic.
  7. 'Tattoo to Tater Town' is one that seems nonsensical in its formulation. Tattoos that are put on with such force would be difficult in and of themselves. But 'Tater Town?' Are we to believe that a town exists that is exclusively populated by potato people or is made of potatoes?
  8. "A French Village" shows a lot of the behaviors and attitudes described. We all hope we'd resist the Germans when they take over our village and take away the class/type of people they will drag off into the night. Not all of us will. Oppression seldom ends from within, it usually takes support from outside.
  9. Jacob Wilson of the A's has the weirdest, most eccentric batting stance since John Wockenfuss.
  10. A's just hit a 3 run bomb 6-4
  11. A's are coming back.
  12. Flaherty acts like he pitched a bad game tonight!
  13. Looks like the A's won't be doing us any favors against the Twinkiaks.
  14. If Cannon wants to K the side the same way each inning and we get 3 runs each inning, I'm prepared for that trade.
  15. I see Tork is in mufti. I didn't check the lineup.
  16. That was on his fists. He's got a quick bat!
  17. Dingler at 5 is impressive for a rookie.
  18. escalation takes what form? What is the next level of shock that can be perpetrated before he crosses a line (WMD, more atrocities) the UN has to respond more emphatically about?
  19. Joni Ernst has a take on that.

  21. I was not tracking that Toledo was also "good" now. I thought we had good teams in the minors below them but dang...8 wins in a row and a record that is just a hair off the pace of the division lead is unexpected.
