You made me do a quick reflection. Alec Guiness had that. He played so many different types of roles. Problematic Arab sultan, Problematic Jewish thief, rough around the edges Scottish officer, comedic roles, Obi-Wan, Indian Army officer who regrets not having a more meaningful career, butler in silly murder mystery. The other actor that comes to mind is Richard Burton in his sober times. He had a similar seriousness as Stellan.
