Week Eighteen: Detroit Lions (8-8) @ Green Bay Packers (8-8)
lordstanley replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
"The Lions should be livid," one source told ESPN. "It was an awful way for them to end their season." A league official told ESPN that the official who threw the flag did not have an angle that allowed him to see Williams being blocked into Dickson. Later in the overtime period, Seattle's Quandre Diggs intercepted Baker Mayfield. Replays showed that Diggs pointed at former Seahawks and current Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner, but officials did not call a taunting penalty that would have pushed back Seattle 15 yards. The Seahawks instead started their final drive at their own 36-yard line and won on Jason Myers' 32-yard field goal. I'm getting livid again just reading about it. -
22-23 Red Wings Prospects Threads
lordstanley replied to slothfacekilla's topic in Detroit Red Wings
https://detroithockeynow.com/2023/01/09/should-red-wings-fans-be-concerned-about-the-yzerplan/ Duff apparently hasn't caught on that Raymond has been on fire since December 1, but otherwise, I get some of his points. Not sure if spots on world juniors teams are the best indicator, sometimes it comes to timing and country depth, but I'd rather have more than less. Still, the Wings had 9 last year, so let's not overreact. And there was one. One Detroit Red Wings prospect in the recently-completed IIHF World Junior Championship. Forward Red Savage of the NCAA Miami Redhawks, a 2021 Detroit draftee, won a bronze medal with the USA. A year after a record nine Red Wings draft picks were skating in the tournament, Savage was alone on the world junior stage in terms of representing Detroit’s future. And that should definitely be cause for concern. -
That's for sure. .895 Save %. Let's off Cossa, Kaspar, this year's 1st and next year's 2nd for Bo Horvat.

Suck it, Leafs.
-
Lead 2-1 after 2. I still feel the Leafs could win this 5-2 but decent outcome so far. Leafs are on the 2nd of a back to back.
-
Red Wings win a period against the mighty Leafs. 1-0 after 1
-
Gamesheet for tonight. Noticed that Husso's GAA has climbed to 3.03 and his Save % is down to .901. Wonder if he is getting worn down a bit.

Anson has shared this now. Maybe it was already available this morning and I just didn’t see it, but goes into more details than the tweets. https://docs.google.com/document/u/2/d/e/2PACX-1vRPFXjz1OvGY9hgXbiyuGjHaTswk4_2ght-lrY4r__cQdqLIcBn-dxexqL4fL-l26YMEwCQLZdvjfnZ/pub?fbclid=IwAR3agY9JPuqnl8vbARRnEYvSdpqOO-X6qG7q4ZWt51EAL8e99VpQ0eDjjFo

Close up!

7 different Red Wing goal scorers tonight. 4 assists for Seider.

I hate the concept of 3rd jerseys, period. Except for maybe 1 or 2 times per year, max. If I am paying $150 to go to my one or two games per year, take some pre-game photos and such, I want the Wings in their proper classic jerseys.
-
Didn’t see a 3-goal 1st period coming. 3-1 Wings after 1.
-
So if he gets fired and then an NFL job calls through, is sitting in his couch at home part of The Field?
-
Exams? Or am I just being naive.
-
Not that it really matters, but I don’t think it is a shoo-in that TCU finishes #2 in the final AP rankings. 1. Georgia 2. Michigan 3. Alabama 4. OSU. 5. TCU.

Toughest game on the schedule might be at Penn St. I wonder if they would have had interest in McNamara if he hadn’t gone to Iowa.

Sad: - No Detroit team has won a playoff series since 2013. Wings beat Ducks in 1st round that year before losing to the Hawks, Tigers beat the A's in ALDS before losing to the Red Sox in the ALCS - Pistons, Red Wings and Lions all made the playoffs in 2016 and the Tigers stayed in WC contention until the final weekend that season, but the only playoff appearance since then by a Detroit team was the Pistons getting swept by the Knicks in 2018 - It has been almost 15 years since Detroit's last championship in any sport, the 2008 Red Wings. Apart from the years between 1968-1984, I don't think there has been a longer stretch between championships since 1935. After the Tigers and Lions in 1935, the Red Wings won in 1936 and 1937 and 1943, then the Tigers in 1945, both the Lions and Red Wings a lot through 1957, the Tigers in 1968. Then since '84, had the Pistons twice in 1989 and 1990, then a bunch for the Wings between 1997 and 2008 and another for the Pistons in 2004. -

5 minutes ago 🙂 Before, swept them in both 2017 and 2018 surprisingly.
