  1. 8-1 brings the Wings’ final goal differential to minus 17.
  2. 7-1. They should have just defaulted.
  3. Keith Gave isn’t holding back these days.
  4. Why is it taking so long. Obvious overturn.
  5. Possible pickoff to end the game. Let’s see the challenge result. Probably safe.
  6. Losing 4-0 tonight in Florida. They stink.
  7. You’re downright cruel, NHL, downright cruel.
  8. Bowness sounds even more frustrated with kids today than McLellan. Although as a coach, Bowness is as mediocre as they come, the textbook example of a retread that keeps getting hired by organizations out of ideas.
  9. The Wings need the NHL to adopt the split-season format like some baseball minor leagues do. Some spots reserved for performance the first half or first two thirds of the season.
  10. That was the point of my post. "Well past time for these rankings to finally convert into on-ice results."
  11. You're reading too much into one 20-word or so question that took me 20 seconds to think about and write. All's fine.
  12. Did they? Few teams were impacted less by injury than were the Wings. A few games for Edvinsson in late January, 3 games for Copp in early March, 7 games for Larkin in March. In an 82 game season that's about as uneventful as you can expect.
  13. Wings' system was rated #5 by the Atlantic in 2025, #2 in 2024, #4 in 2023, #7 in 2022, #4 in 2021, #9 in 2020. Well past time for these rankings to finally convert into on-ice results. How did the Wings get The Athletic's #4 in 2021 and how has it turned out? In this order: Raymond, Seider, Berggren, Veleno, Wallinder, Rasmussen, Tuomisto, Albert Johansson, Niederbach, McIsaac. Nothing to get excited about beyond two top-6 overall picks. How did the Wings get The Athletic's #4 in 2021 and how is that shaping up 3 years later? In this order: Edvinsson, Kasper, Cossa, Berggren, Mazur, Wallinder, Soderblom, Buchelnikov, Albert Johansson, Buium. Again, nothing to get excited about beyond the one top-6 overall pick. Underwhelming! Well past time for these rankings to finally convert into on-ice results. I'm skeptical! Who was #4 the other years? NYR in 2020. NJ Devils in 2022. San Jose in 2024. Chicago in 2025. A mixed bag.
  14. Would you send a future 2nd round pick to Vancouver in exchange for Evander Kane, Teddy Blueger and Nils Hoglander?
  15. If I had more confidence in the Wings' drafting and development, I'd urge them to insert as many prospects into the big club next season and then ask for a bit more patience. But unfortunately, I'm not. Therefore, since I don't have much confidence in their drafting and development, if I had more confidence in their pro scouting I'd urge the Wings to trade as many prospects as possible while they still have perceived value, in exchange for some contributing NHLers. Unfortunately, I don't have confidence in their pro scouting.
  16. The 16 NHL playoff teams are set. In the East, 4 of the 8 teams are different than last year's playoff teams. Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Boston replace Toronto, Florida, Washington and New Jersey. Of the four that didn't make it either this season or last season, the Wings have missed 10 straight years, the Blue Jackets have missed 6 straight years, and the Rangers and Islanders both have missed 2 straight years. In the West, only 2 of the 8 teams are different than last year's playoff teams. Anaheim and Utah are in, Winnipeg and St. Louis are out.
  17. Meanwhile the Leafs wisely blow a 5-3 3rd period lead to lose 6-5 in regulation and have all but locked up a bottom 5 spot. Which means Boston will have to wait until next year to use a 1st rounder from Toronto. The Leafs must not, cannot, win the lottery!
  18. Can’t believe the Flyers are going to the playoffs and the Wings aren’t. Philly was last in the East last year with 76 points and had missed the playoffs the past 5 years. They were 12 points behind Detroit and tied with the Leafs on January 25th.
  19. Wings lose in shootout. 92 points with one game to go, the most for the Wings since 2016’s 93.
  20. Stirring comeback from 3-1 down to tie it at 3, lol, on goals by DeBrincat and Kasper
  21. I'd put Celebrini, Schaefer and Bedard in that order, but that trio of #1 picks is far superior to the three #1s before them - Slafkosky, Power and Lafreniere - even with Slafkosky coming into his own now and playing like a typical, say, #3 overall pick.
