The division race is over. The Tigers could probably go 8-16 and still win in it with 88 wins, as KC isn’t going to go 19-6 to beat that or Cleveland go 20-7 to do so.
Houston’s loss today is huge. They’re now 4.5 games behind the Tigers for the bye and the Tigers win the tiebreaker. Seattle is 6.5 games back of the Tigers but would win the tiebreaker. The math is a huge mountain for them.
Veryzer always seemed greasy. Better suited to the Indians than the Tigers. He, and the Wings' Dan Maloney, were the two players for Detroit teams I disliked in the '70s
And the home opener is against the Cardinals. Good, after what they did to us in 2006, let them stand there all stiff and bored and envious while the Tigers collect their 2025 World Series rings and raise a banner.
I'm not really worried. This whole series featuring this minor league ballpark seemed unreal. That said, just 4 games up on Houston now with 27 still to go, so let's snap to it.
