The division race is over. The Tigers could probably go 8-16 and still win in it with 88 wins, as KC isn’t going to go 19-6 to beat that or Cleveland go 20-7 to do so. Houston’s loss today is huge. They’re now 4.5 games behind the Tigers for the bye and the Tigers win the tiebreaker. Seattle is 6.5 games back of the Tigers but would win the tiebreaker. The math is a huge mountain for them.

So the Tigers are atop the AL again and if they win tomorrow they’ll be the 2nd MLB team to hit 80 wins, after only Milwaukee.
