  1. City Connect uniforms pump people up.
  2. And while I’m certain the tiebreaker won’t come into play given the massive lead the Tigers have with 32 games to play, for what it’s worth one Tigers win in the five remaining games against the Royals will clinch the season series. It’s at 6-2 Tigers currently.
  3. Through 130 games, the Tigers' 77-53 record is 8 games behind the '84 Tigers who won 104 games, but only 4 games behind the '68 Tigers (103) and 2006 Tigers (95). 1 game behind the '87 Tigers (98) but 6 games ahead of the 2011 Tigers who won 95 games.
  4. Cade Smith blows a save for Cleveland. Guardians lose 4-3 to Texas. Double, single and double in the span of 3 pitches.
  5. 5th time in the past 7 games the Tigers have scored at least 7 runs.
  6. Tigers win! 17-7 in their past 24. 24 games above .500, 1 short of their season peak. Magic number 24. Can go down to 23 if Cleveland loses to Texas.
  7. Finnegan settles down and gets three routine outs. 7-3 Tigers heading to the bottom of the 8th.
  8. Finnegan in trouble for the first time. Walk and catcher's interference - 2 on, 0 out.
  9. McKinstry is a double away from the cycle.
  10. Second time tonight that the very speedy Bobby Witt, Jr. grounds into a double play.
  11. Dan Dickerson is not all impressed by the "minor league umpire's" ball-strike calls on Sommers. Feels he "struck out" Grichuk twice before walking him on a full count pitch.
  12. That must be frustrating for Royals fans. All that lopsided baserunner dominance all game and just like that the game is tied.
  13. After this series the Tigers go on the road starting with three games against the Athletics, who surprisingly are 13-7 in their past 20 and 18-12 in their past 30.
  14. So true. I was glad the Lions got to play the Commanders as my preferred matchup in this year’s playoffs. I was glad the Mets were upset by the Cardinals in the ‘06 NLCS. I was glad the New Jersey Devils knocked out the higher-ranked Flyers to reach the ‘95 SCF and clear the path for a Red Wings championship.
  15. Agreed. Especially since we all remember the thumping they put on the Tigers in the sweep before the All Star Game. But I’m debating in my head how much that is offset by the fact that if they do play the Tigers I’d be just a quick trip down the I-5 to be in attendance. So I’m a bit torn.
  16. I don’t want any division leader or contender in reach of the Tigers to get hot. If I had to pick, I’d rather Seattle get hot than Houston because they have more ground they would need to make up on the Tigers. The tiebreaker advantage is only worth 1 game and the Mariners are 2 games worse than the Astros right now. Chance of the tiebreaker even coming into play is probably only around 10% or so.
  17. And within driving distance of several markets that might travel for road games.
  18. Royals won today but it was impossible for the magic number to have gone down today anyways. Even if the Royals had lost, the magic number with respect to Cleveland would have remained at 25.
  19. Yes, pic of me taken at the Joe in 2009. I received the jersey as a Christmas gift in 1984, it’s the only Wings jersey I have ever had and I wear it to games to this day. Have worn it to games in Detroit, Vancouver, Denver, Chicago and Toronto. One of these days I may put together a montage from the past 41 years and post it in the Wings’ forum.
  20. Royals lose. The Tigers' AL Central lead is back up to double digits! 10.0 games over KC, 10.5 games over Cleveland.
  21. Guardians lose, Royals lose. Magic number is 25.
