5/29/24 DH Game 1 12:40PM Pirates @ Tigers
Motor City Sonics replied to Tigeraholic1's topic in Game Threads
Why. Baddoo is hitting 1.000 with an OPS of 4.000. That is LEGENDARY ! In all seriousness, his OBP at Toledo this year is .360. Isn't that what they need? -
Pete Rose bet on his own team as a manager and has never shown an ounce of remorse. He's the very definition of "degenerate gambler". I don't feel sorry for him. He chose to piss it all away. He thought he was so big they wouldn't do it. They did. And they should have.

Leafs need to hire Shoresy.

Another thing is that stats were not as consistently kept. Mainstream newspapers didn't cover the games. The games were not generally all covered on the radio. Black newspapers were shut down long ago and their archives were not protected. Plus, teams would often "borrow" players from other teams. If there was a team that was struggling, one of the power teams would lend a star player for a few games in the hopes it would draw more fans because it was in the league's best interest to keep teams going, even competetors. Schedules were fairly inconsistent as some teams lacked the resources to travel. Even in the later years , like 1945 Cleveland played 81 games, KC played 96 games, Birmingham 82, Chicago 101, Cincinnati-Indy 97, Memphis 88. It's very hard to compare leagues. I'm glad for the acknowledgement, but we can't go back and find that info. All those moments are lost in time like......tears in rain.

Hey.......... C.B.................why don't you go get paid too. A league with no more Hernandez, Bucknor or West. Let us dream.
-
Why did they cut that out? It explains so much about Del. Bad decision. It's 90 seconds of screen time.

I just don't understand why he's seemingly untouchable. -
I'd rather listen to Gibby struggling with his energy than Craig Monroe, But I do think Craig Monroe could be pretty good if he stopped trying to force it so much.
-
I didn't know Riley had such a weak arm. What does he have right now?

I don't know about this. Have they used Holton in a save situation this year? Since he doesn't have a save, the only answer to that would be No unless they did and he failed. I have a bad feeling here.
-
So, is he expecting a 2-inning save from Foley or is he actually gonna put Chafin or Englert in for the 9th?
-
Did Javy not run that out?

Front Lawn - Before And After (19 Days) (Usually my routine in the fall is to go out and rake leaves when the Lions started to get lousy and piss me off. But they were good last year, so I didnt have an excuse to rake my leaves. It did damage. Grass Before (May 6)).mp4 Grass After (May 25).mp4

You know that Kirk Gibson has Parkinson's, right? The medication he takes for that has horrendous side effects. Most people on "Parky" meds wouldn't even want to get out of bed because it's so incredibly draining (which is why he only does some games and not all games anymore). Kirk is a pilot - he can no longer fly a plane because of that. I doubt he can even drive a car anymore. He's not "boring" now, he's just drained (without the meds he'd be in constant pain and would have even more limitations in abilities). Faced with what he's going through - EVERY SINGLE WAKING MOMENT in his life right now, I'm gonna cut him some slack. This might be the only thing he has to really look forward to doing and he can only do it a little bit. Have a heart.
-
Seem to be a matter of hard luck for Chafin instead of bad pitching.
-
Now.....maybe the monkey is off his back a bit and he can relax a bit. He's been hitting the ball hard for a few weeks now. He seems to be the only guy in the lineup that has been improving. Perez has been pretty solid, but not improving.

2024 DETROIT TIGERS REGULAR SEASON THREAD

I heard AJ's response to Jeff Rigor's question about his team not competing. AJ got a bit pissy with it and try to come up with this convoluted reasoning on what "competing" is. It's pretty simple. Were you really even in any of the games after the first 3 innings? Pretty much No. Don't get angry at Rigor. As much as he can stir things up a little bit - he's actually not afraid to ask questions the fans might want to ask. He's the opposite of Craig Monroe's kissing up. Team hasn't been competitive. The Arizona games were an anomaly. This team has been hot garbage for pretty much a month and many of the players seem to be regressing........steeply. What's going on, Skip? When does the great AJ Hinch start taking more responsibility for all this floundering? It ain't just the roster. Supposed to coach them up. We should be seeing some gradual improvement. I'm not seeing that at all. -
2024 DETROIT TIGERS REGULAR SEASON THREAD

Anyone have video of Alex Lange's meltdown? I haven't been watching this week (I won't watch them if all they're going to do is piss me off). -
3 hits today. But - the hitting approach and hitting coaches are just fine. No need to make changes. Everything's just fine.
-
This fart noise of a May continues on. For those of you that say "they're only a few games out of a Wild Card". Are you actually watching them play? This team is closer to a Top 10 draft pick than a playoff game. Again.

Dallas has a very real chance of having 3 titles at one time But the Cowboys are still kings in Dallas. Antonio Brown is bankrupt - and not just morally. I think the vast majority of us saw this coming. $80 million dollar career. Not a great guy to begin with - but he is one of the poster children for CTE. It will not be a happy ending for Antonio. Much as I don't like him, I do feel sorry for him. Nobody in his life with the power or ability to say NO. Even Iverson had people protecting some of his money. But Iverson is just a jackass, he doesn't have a brain injury. I went through a bankruptcy in 2010. But I never made $80 million dollars and most of the debt was medical/dental - not toys. I'll give AB some credit, he's poking fun at himself on social media
-
But people say Look how much a burger meal costs at McDonald's. That's the economy right there. That's it. It's stupid and simplistic, but we now live in a society where Scientists and people who read books are elitist snobs and Joe Bob from the internet knows more than your doctor. Mike Judge is a modern-day Nostradamus. He nailed it. It's exactly where this is all going, only a lot faster than he thought.
-
The problem is that as the season goes it, guys are regressing, not improving. That IS on Hinch and his staff. Not that he'll get fired, but I am not seeing improvement. Since the 5-0 start. 18-26 after that 5-0 start. I expected better. I expected better than half this lineup hitting under .200. There should be some improvement in some of these guys. And I just feel like Wenceel Perez won't last. And sadly, he's been their best overall player and that is very unacceptable. I feel like this horrible coaching staff are going to end up getting this guy overthinking everything like they seem to have with Tork and Greene.
