  1. The Correa contract might be held up while the team finalizes an extension for AJ Hinch. I would imagine if they do get Correa, his relationship with Hinch would be a major reason why, and they'd want to avoid Hinch having that out clause after 2022 and committing 4 or 5 years to him. That could be part of a hold up too, if at deal is indeed already done.
  2. According to Michael Balko on Twitter, one MLB insider says Correa to the Tigers is a 'Done Deal". I'm guessing..... 22 years, 1.6 Billion dollars
  3. When does OBJ starting bitching? Thursday? Friday?
  4. Mickey Lolich in 1971 - 376 innings, 45 starts, 29 complete games and he was a strikeout guy too. That's insane. Followed that year up with 327, 308, 308. Even at 35, after those 300+ years, he pitched 192 innings and had an ERA of 3.22 Then in 1976 Mark Fidrych had 24 complete games, 3 of them going 11 innings and they broke him.
  5. Wild Stab here..... Florida - Mark Stoops (Kentucky Head Coach) LSU - Joe Brady (Panters OC) Miami - Joe Moorhead (Oregon OC) Oklahoma - Matt Rhule (Panthers Head Coach) USC - Urban Meyer (Jaguars Head Caoch) Ohio State - Luke Fickell (Cincinnati Head Coach) Washington - Jay Norvell (Nevada Head Coach) Cincinnati - Mike Tressel (current DC) NFL openings Las Vegas - Lincoln Riley (Oklahoma Head Whiner) Jacksonville - Byron Leftwich (Bucs OC) Broncos - Eric Bieniemy (Cheifs OC) Bears - Ryan Day (Ohio State Head Coach) Vikings - Brian Daboll (Bills OC) Panthers - Joe Woods (Browns DC)
  6. Tuck is about to become the one of the top four highest-paid coach in NCAA - by Michigan State. (An 8 year deal worth 56 to 68 million) He's not going anywhere. Not right now.
  7. Sounds like Juan Nieves probably was the deicing factor.
  8. Interesting to see how the Yzerman picks have developed and how the Holland picks haven't, or not nearly at the same rate. Veleno has had some nice flashes, though.
  9. But Gracia, Brieske, Olsen and Wentz are guys you could call up on during the season when you need them, maybe not guys you expect to be in the rotation. I mean, to me, they have to sign another veteran arm, the one year "prove your worth" type of deal. If we think we are going to avoid some sort of long term injury with all 3 of the young guns, we're being a bit naive. TJ surgeries are starting to become more of the norm these days. I wonder if anyone is doing a comprehensive study to find out why there are more pitching injuries with pitchers throwing fewer innings than in the past. A lot of speculation why, but has there been any study? Dr. James Andrews has become more well-known than most of the players in the league
  10. Much of that because of BABIP. Maybe a really good SS gets him 2-3 extra outs per start.
  11. Yes, the fabled "Leak Affect", but still, it counts.
  12. $14 million is right about where he was projected, so there was no "Detroit? You gotta pay me more to pitch in that awful city" tax. (its an unfair but accurate outsiders assessment of our fair city, which is not all that much better or worse off than any other city it's size). That BABIP number gets a lot better if they do find a Shortstop that's a run-saver and according to Fielding Bible, Carlos Correa tops that list with 20 runs saved in 2021. The others at SS: Andrelton Simmons at 15 Trevor Story at 9, Javier Baez at 3, Marcus Semien at 1 (but only as a shortstop), Corey Seager and Chris Taylor are at 0 The Tigers crew - not great, Bob. Niko Goodrum was -6 (about -11 in a full season), Zack Short was -1, Isaac Paredes was -1 in only 39 innings, Harold Castro -6 in only 291 innings, Willi Castro was -2. Just for sh*ts and giggles, the worst in all of baseball, we're talking ALL OF BASEBALL (minors and all) was Jose Iglesias at -22 and the next closest in baseball was Josh Rojas with -13 in only 283 innings, which would probably put him in the -30s in a full season, if not higher. Even Tanner Boyle of the 197B San Fernando Valley all-12 year-old league Bears was better than that. Another reason to embrace signing Correa if they can afford him, but the much-maligned at Motown Forums Javy Baez was the #1 ranked SS in Runs Saved in 2019 with an incredible number of 31 runs saved and #3 ranked in 2020 with 6 runs saved (equal to about 16 in a full season). . So he's still a significant upgrade over anything the Tigers have.
  13. You need 7 or 8 starting pitchers. Not meaning you need all 7 to be on the team Opening Day, but 7 that could step in and be in the rotation the second they needed it. They have 5 now with the 3 kids, E-Rod and Alexander. I am guessing Alexander has the same role as the last two years - be in the pen, but be ready to step in. Who would be the other two. Is Wentz far enough along? I don't think Faedo can be counted on. So yes, they need at least one more. Maybe they bring back Peralta, who probably won't break the bank. Is Rony Garcia considered one of those guys? Reese Olson? Beau Briske? I'd keep Fulmer in the pen. He really thrived there.
  14. That's GM Speak. You look at every possibility to improve your team, no matter what. He's finally getting it right instead of completely giving away every detail.
  15. Okay, I get that. Picking at #1 is great because you get the QB you are in love with, or you trade it for 3 or 4 picks and still get players you want and need, but - you can't go winless in your first year of a regime, You just can't. 2-14-1 is a whole lot better than 0-16-1. And the way Goff & the WRs are playing, they could go winless and that's why it's bothering so many people. They should have 3 wins now, if their QB was only a little bit better. The defense is bad, but they play their asses off and as rocky as the first drive or two seem to be for the defense, they really seem to correct it most weeks. They give the offense the opportunity to win, and they just can't. Not all on Goff, but a big part of it is.
  16. This is for Chasfh (just came out Friday)
  17. He didn't. If he was playing for any of the other 31 teams he did, but no, he didn't.
  18. They'll never use Carmen as their team music.
  19. The kicker should be released.
  20. Well, an undefeated weekend. 4-0-1
  21. The defense, bad as it is, should punch the office right in the mouth.
  22. Well, at least they won't go 0-17 0-16-1 is still in play !
  23. LIONS RECOVER A FUMBLE
  24. Here comes the big play for the win for the Stillers.
