I feel like the negotiations with Jackson went:
"I want $240 million fully guaranteed."
"We can't give out a fully guaranteed contract."
"Fine, make it $300 million with $240 million guaranteed."
The Rams took Gurley 10th. He had a relatively short career but he was a big reason that Rams team went to a Super Bowl. I don't see anyone drafted after Gurley in the 1st round that would make me say yeah I would rather have that guy.
Would anyone say the Suh pick was wasted? The Lions got 5 years of elite play from Suh and he was gone. There's also concern the other prospects aren't sure things. I could see Robinson ending up like Hockenson. He'll be a good player but is not quite the next Marshall Faulk so everyone will be like see you shouldn't draft a RB that high.
Marshall Faulk was a 2,000 yard from scrimmage player. That's not underutilized. That would be the most utilized player on the field outside of the QB.
Can't sleep on Kalif Raymond being a second deep threat. He's quietly put up two solid seasons since being a scrap heap pickup. Raymond had more receiving yards last year than both Chark and Jones.
I think it was more that the Lions ranked poorly in dinning facilities and not so great in strength room facilities. I think it's more about building a bigger and better facility.
Looking at Jones career, he had one season where he had 10 TDs and three seasons where he had 9 TDs but only one of those seasons did he go over 1,000 yards. Guy is a red zone target.
