Drafting a CB is still a possibility in the 1st round. Mosely, CGJ and Harris all signed one year deals. Okudah is in the last year of his contract if they don't pick up the 5th year option. All these players could be gone by this time next year. Holmes set himself up to where he could go in any direction this draft.

I would not be surprised if they went offense with the 6th pick.

Gives them good flexibility as I wouldn't count on Tracy Walker being 100%. Can play CGJ at safety or trying moving Okudah to safety. Love the free agency by Holmes. He was more aggressive this year but the team isn't locked into any bad contracts. None of these contracts affect possible extensions to Sewell, St Brown and Goff if they want to. Still flexible to sign Hutchinson when the time comes. It also allows them to be flexible in the draft.

Not sure if this takes them out of the running for Chark.

A lot of people said the same thing about Trump circa 2015.

Outside of Chark, I like Taylor Rapp. He has a Brad Holmes connection and can fill in for Tracy Walker until he is 100%. Not the fastest guy or best cover guy, but is an excellent taker and would play well next to Joseph. The Lions like to use their safeties in the run game and Rapp will replace Elliot and give depth at safety.

I'm assuming Trump is not in New York. Wouldn't he need to be extradited to New York? That is of course he doesn't voluntarily turn himself in.

There were rumors during training camp last year the Lions were interested in trading for Mason Rudolph. He's a free agent now. He would be a perfectly fine backup. Rudolph is another example of a team wasting a draft pick. Pittsburgh wasted a 3rd round pick on Rudolph. In the same draft just six pick later the Lions selected Tracy Walker. Even Bob Quinn knew better. He at least wasted 6th round picks on QBs.

Mason Rudolph is still available. I feel the Lions were connected to him a year or two ago. You have bigger names like Wentz and Ryan although I don't think Wentz is a fit culturally. Brian Hoyer has also been a good career backup but I'm not sure if he is healthy. Flacco is available but he is 38. Tom Brady is still listed as a free agent. There's some good options.

They are conflicting but I get the sense the Lions wanted to move on from Williams. I commend them for not overpaying for Williams and moving on to a better player. I wish they did the same with Anzalone.

He could just re-sign Sudfeld. Sudfeld was superb in the 6 kneel downs he had last year. I'm not sure who is better at kneeling down than Sudfeld.

Just sign some other team's wasted 6th round pick to be a backup. Top backups don't want to come to a team where the starter is firmly entrenched, didn't miss a single snap the entire season, and has only missed 3 games due to injury over 6 years.
