The biggest losers in this are the fans who spend the day watching races. I don't think it will have any impact on Indy. It's still a stupid decision on the part of F1 for going against Indy.

That VSC screwed up the race for some of the team and us watching too. Max, Lewis and a couple others really benefited from it for staying out. If it wasn’t for the SC Max would have been long gone. Luck is sometimes a big part of racing so take it when you can get it. I didn’t hear why Charles and Oscar stayed out but I think Charles would have finished higher with some new tires and Oscar might have done better too. Max had them covered today.

I hope Ferrari is selling a lot more merchandise because of Lewis because they could have kept Sainz for a lot less money and got the same or even better results.

I also thought Shep was intimidated or starstruck sitting next to guys he idolized as players like Gibby or Morris. It was something he got a little better with over time but never got over. Benetti doesn’t have that issue but to me just seems to blab the whole game about nothing. I like Dan D and wish he was on TV instead of the radio broadcast.

I completely agree. They’ve downgraded the entire broadcast so much it’s difficult to watch. I don’t see much difference in Benetti and Shep either. I don’t need to listed to Benetti talk about the betting odds of spilling BBQ on his shirt. I feel like he’s just talking to hear himself and Dirks is about as bad. The best thing about Benetti is that he has another gig that allows us to get Dan once a week or so. Maybe I’m just spoiled because for years I got to enjoy the gold standard of Tiger announcers - George Kell and Al Kaline.

I’m glad I recorded the race to watch this morning instead of staying up all night. Qualifying was more exciting with the top 3 in Q3 coming in within .05 of a second of each other. Race wasn’t great but it was competitive with all 20 cars finishing and 19 of 20 on the lead lap. I thought Max would fade and get passed by Lando and/or Piastri. Lawson didn’t do much in the Racing Bull and either did Yuki in his new ride. Actually I think this was the first time in Yuki’s F1 career he qualified outside the top 10 at Suzuka.

I’m very surprised that Red Bull dumped Lawson so soon. I wonder what they seen in the race data that was so bad and why didn’t they see that last year? Or was it the money that Yuki brings from Japan? I don’t think they will see a big difference in performances with Yuki in the car. I hope Hamilton designs a better car than some of the clothes he designs that look like the he got the fabric from his grandma’s couch.

Briske didn’t have a good spring and obviously isn’t starting out good. He might be on his way to Toledo sooner than later. We will see how much rope Hinch will give pitchers especially if guys like Foley are doing good.

So far Antonelli is doing the best of the new drivers. I think he will be pushing George for the number 1 driver designation at Merc by mid season. Lawson didn’t do himself any favors. Still a back marker but he managed to finish. Replacing Newey is impossible so Red Bull could be in a long downhill slide.

Yuki is not a good teammate and I think that had a lot to do with Lawson being selected over him. Anyone going to Red Bull is going to be second to Max and Yuki has had a lot of trouble in the past playing nice with his teammates. Lawson has show speed and promise just not this year. Give him a couple more races. If he doesn’t pick it up he will be competing with Doohan to see who loses their seat first. Flavio really wants Caliapino in the Alpine.

Perez is one of the drivers talked about for the Cadillac team so he might be back. Some people have said the Bulls are designed for Max and everyone else has a hard time driving them. I don’t know if that is true or not but if it is I wonder what Max likes in a car that nobody else can get a handle on. I’m looking forward to the first race to see how Lewis does in the red cars and what kind of battle he and Charles will have.

Sainz is the only one of that group you listed that would be a #1 driver. Bottas has proven when he was with merc that he isn’t even a good second F1 driver. Flailing away a Sauber didn’t do him any good. I’m really surprised Merc picked him up as a reserve. Checo’s performance the last couple years made his stock drop to about nothing. I do agree that they are taking a chance with Antonelli but it might pay off and he could quickly jump over George and be the top driver on the team.

I’m good with Bregman not signing with the Tigers. I don’t think he would have been that much of an upgrade for what they would have to pay. They can invest that money into a better player in the future.
