My problem with the City Connects is the MLB decision to institute them, far more than with the Tigers version. Alternate jerseys to honor the Negro Leagues, I’m onboard. The City Connects seem contrived - but if you have to do them, the Tiger version doesn’t bother me.

I think MLB limited the armor after he had used it.

And if Bonds hadn’t been allowed to wear full arm armor he likely wouldn’t have hit nearly as many home runs. He might even have broken an arm, since he crowded the plate. Super talented, no doubt, but he leveraged that protection to the max.

Regarding Pudge leading to Magglio, Ordóñez had an injured knee and chose non-traditional treatment for it. The Tigers were willing to invest in what was no sure thing. Turned out great, but at the time it was risky. Also, Viña wants to get credit 🤭 for being the “star” that opened the path for others to come to Detroit. So, yes, sign some vets, take some risks, but past is not prologue.

Do we know what were the pitches Javy hit for these three homers? He has always been streaky, so maybe he’s just in a groove. I was wondering if he was guessing/hunting and can now maybe keep it going for awhile. Laying off low and outside sliders is key, of course.

It’s fun to speculate on a huge haul from trading Skubal. I think it’s much more likely that Flaherty is swapped. With that as a basis, what should we look to be getting back (position and/or teams)?

So if they were “ramped up” at that point, would things have been even more deadly without the increased attention?
