Another question for those more clued in: is Nhltraderumors.com worth paying attention to? They have one rumor of the Wings trading Compher to Utah for a second and third pick next year. Obviously a salary dump, but would it be to make room for someone with a big salary? Who’s left that would make sense as a FA? Unless they decide to play some of the kids up front. The idea of Veleno as the third line C is disturbing.

I gave a like to this, especially for the last sentence. I don’t have the hockey knowledge that most of the posters here do, but would appreciate the thoughts on this. Specifically, would the Wings be able to fit both Trouba and Roy into the cap space and have a moderate amount left over to sign a couple role player types, like Perron? If if they did, how much better would the greatly strengthened blue line help cover for mediocre at best goaltending? Is this the way to go, and hope that the forwards are good enough for now? Help on the way there from Kasper, later Danielson or Mazer?

I will watch at least some of it, just to see how they are coming across onscreen and then get the takeaways here and from the press later. I don’t think this one debate should be the deciding event for a voter, but it could be if one of them dominates. Not that I expect that.
