Campbell was the top player on their board at by a wide margin at 18. Are you saying they should’ve ignored their dozens of scouts and their months of work to take someone else? If that’s the case, they should just fire their scouting staff and use the consensus mocks. That would save them a ton of money and they’d get an A grade every year from the pundits because they got top value on every pick.

This was probably true before the combine but Jack blew past those guys with his insane workout numbers. 6th best RAS for LB since 1987.

Assuming the Steelers will take Joey Porter Jr. Who is the pick at 34? I think it may be either Avila or Torrence. Branch, Mingo, or Benton are all good bets too. There are still so many good CB left on the board that I think they can wait until one of the other 2 picks. Getting the 2nd best RB, and top LB and IOL in the draft would be a great first 3 picks.

It’s not a secret that Holmes and MCDC value personality and culture fit more than most other teams. A great interview with them can go farther than someone’s game tape and workout numbers. Naturally, they are going to have a widely different big board than other teams and even more varied from the mockers that completely discount it. Holmes said Jack Campbell was the highest player on their board at 18 and it wasn’t very close. Everyone loved his interview and attitude. This pick shouldn’t be a surprise. it’s exactly the player they wanted. Some can say it’s stupid to pick him at 18 when he could’ve been had later but I would counter it would be dumber to pass on the highest player on your board because of what someone else’s board may look like.

Exactly. Deebo is 3 inches taller and has and extra 15 pounds of muscle. These guys are not nearly the same. I don’t see Gibbs playing WR. I see him as an RB they motion out wide in certain sets and running all the arrow and wheel routes they currently run with Swift. Monty will help with the hard running in the middle and that should hopefully help Gibbs durability.

They are different backs but Gibbs probably is a tier lower. That high 2nd round pick has a ton of value and at least for me makes up the difference.

I wouldn’t have picked either player that early but I like Gibbs and pick 34 better than Bijan.

Value is questionable but these two players will have a chance to make an impact immediately.

Vaitai is nowhere close to a sure thing to make this roster much less start. I’d give Torrance a great shot to beat him out if they drafted him.

I feel better about myself for not getting pulled into yet another TJ Hockenson debate. One of the best parts of Brand New Lions is moving past all of that old SOL stuff and not getting caught up in the same bull****.

This is a really deep TE draft too. They can find a good player in the later rounds.

As we sit here on draft day, my thoughts are starting to change. I don’t like any of the these QBs and I also think they need a player that can help someway this year. FWIW, I think 1 of the 4 will be good and the other 3 will suck. I have no clue who that will be though. This is a very deep CB draft and I like the guys at the top but I’ don’t see much difference between Gonzalez and Witherspoon and a Cam Davis, Joey Porter, or even a guy like Forbes. We are going to get a good CB early in this draft but don’t think it needs to happen at 6. This is such a random draft with limited playmakers and the Lions have a boatload of picks including another first. It really creates the ideal situation to take a risk. The best player in the draft who also plays at their biggest position of need is Jalen Carter. He’s should be the pick if he’s on the board at 6. Take the shot knowing there’s great risk. If he’s not there , they should try to trade with Tennessee at 11 for extra picks and they can probably draft whatever CB that may have thought at 6. They also could go Wilson too. I have some concerns if he’s got an ongoing foot injury and I’d hate to have a Levi part 2. Still would be willing to roll the dice with him too based on this draft situation. Im having a bit of a struggle with the realization that after months of debate I’ve come around to the same point of view as Buddha.
