The flip side of drafting so well is we already have our future FA money tied up in players that will come due in the next few seasons. I’d love to add a big name like a Crosby, Reddick, or Adams but how do you commit that now knowing Hutch, Jamo, Gibbs, Branch, LaPorta, Kerby, Alim are all going to need significant pay raises to stay.

FA is a harder task because they are expected to come in day one and start. They also need to be a culture fit with the organization and have a clean record off the field. These are a lot of boxes to have to check before bringing someone on. They would probably have more success in FA just finding players that meet box 1 of getting it done on Sunday but that is not how Brad builds his teams. Hard to argue with his method since it’s working even with the FA misses.

None of this really matters anymore. It’s truly a week to week league. Anyone can beat anyone. Just look at this past week. Who had Carolina dominating at Vegas. SF losing to a decimated LA team in a stadium taken over by Niner fans Broncos destroying the Bucs on the road Hapless Giants beating Cleveland on the road Saints scoring only 1 TD and losing Redskins crushing Cincy on the road and again scoring on every possession.

Interested to learn the details of how this went down. Someone said UNLV didn’t pay to what they agreed, another person said that they paid and the kid wanted to renegotiate after a good start, another person said a different school offered more money if he’d redshirt and transfer. No idea what is true but this is the new world especially for G5. It’s a one year commitment for most players just like a JC program.

I have the exact opposite view. This isn’t about giving him a little look to help his development. They think he can help them now. Let him pitch and hope that he can become a valuable bullpen piece the rest of the way. That means going into to close ballgames and showing his stuff. Also the lineup that he’ll be facing this weekend is probably worse than the ones he was seeing in Toledo.

I’m in a 50 person Survivor league for money. Pick one team to win each week. You can’t use the same team twice. No spreads. It couldn’t be easier. We are not finished with week 3 and there are only 2 people left. Even better, they both took Cincinnati tonight. If the Bengals lose, 50 people couldn’t it make through 3 weeks picking just a single winner. This very much a week to week league where parity rules.

It’s not the fanbase. It’s just a few insufferables that love to complain.

I’m a little surprised you don’t have the Bears being better than the Lions too. Today is absolutely not a must win. It’s week 3.

Lions won’t contain Murray. They won’t slow down Trey McBride or MHJ. James Conner will score a TD. Lions still find a way to win in the 4th quarter. Defense stops Murray at the end with a chance to win the game. BBranch continues to make big plays. Hutch 1.5 more sacks.

This means there’s no need to go to full hater on every bad play since the result is expected.
