  1. They deserve each other. (Actually, glad he’s got a gig. The last 24 hours news cycle/reaction to Benetti announcement probably has been tough for him).
  2. Hard pass. Nick already made his feelings clear about hitting in Comerica. Can’t field and his hitting skills will decline.
  3. I’m in for Bauer. Wouldn’t be dull.
  4. Dirks was excellent. Hope he’s the full-time radio guy with DD. Everything I’m learning about this guy, I love. Seems like a great hire. Any player acquisitions this offseason are just gravy at this point.
  5. An owners dream. Doesn’t have to be told to spend wisely. Likes obtaining projects and having the development team coach them up.
  6. Is he any good? I never listen to other team’s broadcasts.
  7. I’d like to see him come back, mostly because I think the other elite starters will want too much or end up elsewhere. he’s quirky, yes, but is a good pitcher and seems like a fit in the clubhouse. #devilyouknow
  8. Ok, so now we know the bench. I doubt the Tigers would waste 40 man spots if they didn’t think McKinstry, Ibanez and Kelly had a good chance to make the squad. Let’s now package Carpenter, Jung and another good prospect for an outfielder upgrade.
  9. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he can still upgrade a position. We have a lot of prospect capital for a change.
  10. My wife is a realtor in Birmingham. Disappointed she didn’t get the Hinch listing. He probably did very well (there is not a lot of inventory right now), but where is he going to live? I could rent out a room to him, I suppose.
  11. AFL All-Star game on MLB Network at 8 pm EST.
  12. Agree that paying Baddoo $1.7M to be insurance at AAA is an easy decision.
  13. Soto’s a rental. Tatis is a buy-low guy that has some risk, but the reward can be great.
  14. Agree it’s a no-brainer to stash Baddoo in Toledo. We have a lot of question marks in the outfield—will Greene be able to play out there on Opening Day, is Meadows ready, and is Carpenter legit or Brennan Boesch V2. Nice to have Akil as insurance.
  15. I don’t care too much about which bench players will make the team, especially one week into the offseason. I would, however, like to significantly upgrade at least one spot in the lineup, Ideally two, with proven major league bats. I think Keith will be our Opening Day 2B. Other spots to upgrade are at 3B, C and OF.
  16. Canha is our new Fernando Vina. It all starts here.
  17. A lot of offseason left, but wonder if the Tigers view Vierling as a viable option at 3B, keeping the hot corner warm for Jung?
  18. He could take AB’s from Vierling, or block Malloy, so this isn’t a victimless crime.
  19. I’d be OK if we make a similar deal for LeMahieu, if the Yankees want to dump his salary.
  20. Greene > Carpenter, and it’s not even close. Still very questionable if Carp is not another Boesch. I might have felt differently if he had ended the season better. Of course I’m pulling for him, but selling high might not be a bad outcome if we can improve elsewhere.
  21. The only thing this trade satisfies is the need for a transaction. Any transaction. I’d rather Vierling gets the RH AB’s in the outfield.
  22. He was chosen to speak on behalf of the players at Miggy’s retirement ceremony.
