  1. Enjoy the Cherry Festival!
  2. Maeda’s salary is not that ridiculous that it would prevent him from being waived. Unfortunately, we need the innings, unless they start stretching out one or more of Wentz, Faedo and Brieske. its too bad that none of Hurter, Flores or Madden has distinguished themselves in Toledo.
  3. One more reason for me to detest Del Baker
  4. I submit Champ Summers for your consideration. Albeit in a part-time role, his ‘79/‘80 seasons with us were phenomenal. More walks than K’s and an OPS over 1000 in 1979.
  5. We’re down two SP (Mize and Flaherty) and Manning has been inconsistent at Toledo. As mentioned, we’re going to see Maeda every 5 days, as long as he’s healthy.
  6. I like the idea of trading for Bichette, if the Jays are serious about moving his contract. Dude is only 26.
  7. For me, the positions that I think they should go outside to upgrade are 1B and SS. Realize Baez is under contract, but they’ll have to move on if they want to be a playoff contender in 2025 or 2026. I don’t think they will, though, and will ride Baez until McGonigle is ready. In reality, any improvement is going to need to come from our young hitters being able to adjust to the bigs. We’re not signing or trading for 5-6 bats.
  8. How great would it be if he could get another single?!?
  9. I’ve seen better company softball jerseys
  10. We absolutely need to find the next Lorenzen/Flaherty reclamation. Should be an easy sell. A bat or two that can help our younger hitters see better pitches would be nice, too.
  11. I’d rather have Jobe, but these two will be linked, at least to some Tiger fans. Similar to Clark and Langford.
  12. Marcelo Mayer is hitting very well in AA, while Jobe has been troubled by an injury this season. The chess match continues.
  13. Agree—this season is the tryout camp. There will be a few guys that deserve or require more runway (Keith and Perez come to mind). I suspect that Meadows will get another shot soon, and maybe Tork comes back later in the season. 2024 is the evaluation season—it might not translate into actual performance, but hopefully will give the org the insight they require. Of course, barring trades, we should see Jung and Dingler next season.
  14. Definitely a red flag. I think he’d need two solid starts before the trade deadline to give teams the confidence to acquire him, and that might not be enough.
  15. The problem with that is Tryout camp = Spring Training, which is no indicator of full season success.
  16. Hope he can stay there. The Failed Starter Club has too many members already.
  17. Apparently BA just published their top 100, and we had 5 (unverified—saw on the Tweeter):
  18. I think the best path with Flaherty is to try and trade him for player(s) that can help soon. If not, offer him a qualifying offer and attempt to sign him to a fair extension or take the compensatory pick. We have more options/leverage than we did with the guy in AZ who has yet to throw a pitch this season.
  19. We still have Channel 20? I just hope they don’t preempt Batman or Gilligan’s Island for any games.
  20. I thought this team would be very good for a long time. It’s a good thing that I don’t know ****.
  21. Unfortunately named law firm in this instance.
  22. Our position player equivalent was the Tork/Greene/Carpenter triumvirate. Seeing some parallels to the pitchers so far.
  23. He makes it up—way to call him out!
