    ? He’s probably a top-25 pitcher in the MLB. He’s not a mid-back of rotation guy for almost any team. I think you’re selling him short.

    I think we’ve been pretty solid in bullpen games this season. Wentz going 3 innings probably doesn’t help the cause tomorrow.

    Why? He was one of our better hitters this season. For all of the consternation that everyone seemed to have at the beginning of the season, my AAT was pretty good. Not HOF good, but he had some key hits playing part time. I’m glad he was on the team.

    He meant Gelof and two others for Skubal. I’d rather send Tarik, if we think it makes sense to trade him, to LA for the booty that was supposed to come our way for ERod. Skubal would command even more. Another bold move would be to go after Soto or Tatis Jr from the Padres. We need a young, impactful hitter in this lineup to help elevate everyone else.

    The only reason to add a player to the 40 man is if you think another team will select them and keep them in their ML roster all season. Very little risk of that happening with either Cruz or Workman. And if another team decides to do that, you let them.

    I’ll bet they time it to his HOF induction year, which I believe will be 2028.

    You’re not including guys in our minors that need to be put on the 40 man roster or risk being exposed in the Rule 5 draft.

    Won’t it ultimately come down to whether the Tigers want to use a 40-man roster spot on him? Not sure how many have graduated to require a spot on the 40-man, though we have a handful of players I’d be willing to discard before Akil.

    Don’t forget the speed. Should be a 20/20 guy with regularity, who also plays a very good CF.
