from max: "I’d put Buium and Wallinder a tier above Tuomisto. I think Tuomisto is a nice AHL defenseman, but probably more organizational depth than a future NHL regular because of his skating." sorry 84. on cossa: "I don’t have an issue with him starting the year back in the AHL (and playing a lot), partly because, given how he finished the season, he didn’t make a case that he had outgrown the league. He was pretty rocky down the stretch. I expect he will bounce back this year, but I can understand why the Red Wings didn’t feel they could bank on him being ready to be one of their top two from the jump. I think you’ll see Cossa in Detroit at some point this year, possibly for a similar number of games to what Askarov got in San Jose last season (13), and then full-time in 2026-27." cossa wasnt good enough to warrant a spot on the nhl roster this year. he will play games this year in the nhl. hopefully he comes out and dominates. even if he struggles, his future could still be bright. it takes goalies a long time to develop sometimes.

veleno signs in montreal. 1x900k

its going to be hard for robinson to shoot better than beasley did last season. beasley THIS season would have been a downgrade on beasley from last season. that was a fluke. i dont see lavert as an upgrade on shroeder. shroeder fit like a glove as backup ball handler last year after ivey went out and sasser was exposed as being...well...sasser (can we flip him to new orleans for an unprotected first?). ivey is the most obvious upgrade. i still see stewart as playing some backup 4 this year. reed isnt a really viable option for more than a couple minutes a night and holland is too small (although he'll fight with guys bigger than him).

wings open with montreal, toronto x2, florida, tampa, and edmonton. sheesh nhl, just kill all our hopes before thanksgiving.
-
the nhl drafts for size a lot of times. cossa is huge and that's part of his appeal. if he hits he likely hits big. smaller goalies dont alwaya fair as well, but there have been quite a few who did well last season. wheeler just talked about it on the athletic podcast. mentioned cossa on particular and commented about how he hadnt exactly set the world on fire at grand rapids last year. i think he's too harsh on cossa because he did really well for a lot of the year and fell apart at the end. we'll find out more about him this year because i think he's going to get some nhl games.
-
cossa is high ceiling/low floor. augustine is high floor and likely lower ceiling. if that makes me an augustine slappy, so be it. what it actually makes me is someone who is skeptical of goalie prospects.

what does "til we find out what we have" mean?
-
i'd be in favor including him in a deal for an established guy who fits the timeline. i would have dealt him for dobson plus #13 plus a little mpre if the islanders wanted had wanted him. or keeping him. whatever. he's going to play this year. there is little chance both red wings' injury prone goalies stay healthy all season. so we'll see how he does. i hope he's markstrom.
-
what does "til we find out what we have" mean? you want to wait until you find out whether cossa is a good nhl goalie? or that he isnt? so you wont trade anyone until you find out they suck. guess what? no one will want them then and youve waited too long to move an asset that now has no value. you move him for an asset when he has value, not when you know he doesnt. you just want to give up nothing and get an all star in return.
-
with these summer league numbers, we'll probably be able to deal him for giannis...
-
never say never, but i would have a much harder time trading kasper than cossa. to me, kasper is right behind seider/raymond in the pecking order. i might put him ahead of raymond because he can play center. and i was a kasper doubter for a long time.
-
the idea of cossa as untouchable is crazy to me. i'm good if they trade him, i'm good if they DONT trade him too. but i'm not as high on him as some of you seem to be because he's a goalie and those guys are volatile and can take a long time to get good. i'm good with them trading any prospect if it brings back a good player that fits their timeline.
-
oh ok mr. every wings prospect will be mini-gretzky. you have to give up something to get something. goalies are notoriously volatile. the wings have a better prospect in augustine at the ready. as far as i'm concerned EVERY wings prospect is available for a quality player on the right contract.
-
philly bombs out this year because their goaltending sucks again. wings are chasing a playoff berth at the deadline. you wouldnt deal cossa and a first round pick for konechny?
-
holland looks like he should look for this year. he looks too good for summer league. that's what you want to see.
-
cossa ended the year.....poorly. cossa is an upside play. 6'6 goalies dont grow on trees. augustine seems like a higher floor, lower ceiling prospect. i would deal cossa to a team like philly that is desperate for a goalie. bope that philly crashes out and trade for someon there?
-
wheeler's new goalie prospect rankings has augustine at #3 and cossa dropping to #8. he writes about augustine: "He and fellow Red Wings goalie prospect Sebastian Cossa are such different people and goalies as well, which will make for an interesting yin and yang dynamic, I think. But I'm a bigger believer in Augustine and believe has has already passed — or will pass — Cossa on their depth chart."
-
dont make me tap the sign: sign: summer league stats mean nothing.
-
byram gets 2x6.25 walking him right up to free agency in his prime. great job buffalo. someone will overpay him dramatically based on his numbers being so good. but if he isnt bringing rasmus dahlin with him, its unlikely to translate to his new team.
-
lebron being a pouty bitch becsusr they wont sign a 40 year old to a huge multiyear extension. its Luka's team now, lebron. will he insist that his new team trade for bronny too? or will he not want to do the lakers any favors on his way out the door?
-
that's what you would hope to see from last year's lottery pick.
-
good to see ron make back to back threes.
-
who is a better shooter next year? ausar or duren?

the stories of a lot of the 84 tigers are....interesting.
