i guy i work with played college (and nfl) football. he said his team had videotaped practices from other teams back in the 00s. they had the other team's signs in multiple games. they always did. everyone has done this for a long time. i'm not sure why big ten coaches would go this far against michigan considering they all did it and knowing that michigan had evidence of it.

that should all be common knowledge to every coach in college football. and will hopefully quiet the ryan walters' of the world crying about how horrible the IDEA of sign stealing is. we all know - well, those of us who arent here simply to troll michigan fans- that every school steals signs. the other "rumors" of people sharing film of michigan practices is more damning and potentially more troublesome for the accused, but that's only an internet allegation and no one from the AP or unaffiliated with michigan press member has put a name to it. the rumors continue but as of now theyre still just rumors. and the idea that others simply stole signs - while putting the moralizing BS of the big ten coaches to rest - doesnt help michigan with the sanctions. the sanctions arent for stealing signs, that's legal; rather, the allegations are for having someone in person steal them. so michigan will get hit for that and so will harbaugh. seems like a distinction without a difference, but it is the rule.

according to most people in this thread that makes you a michigan excuser. in reality, youre right. but that doesnt get clicks.

i give walters credit for putting his name on it unlike other "anonymous" coaches. but if youre not changing your signs every week then you deserve to get your signs stolen. i seriously doubt this was a huge inconienence or made any significant difference in the outcome of the game. that's not making an excuse for michigan, if rules were broken they should be punished accordingly. but all of this whining by coaches is laughable, imo. the postgame handshake was weak ****. you got beat by a better team, man up.

who is in denial? lol. harbaugh hires a guy to steal signs. cool. that's outside the box/nfl thinking. he should do that (everyone else steals signs too, dont kid yourself. even pristine programs like u$c.) being harbaugh, his small attention span means he doesnt vet the guy (and he's a rich booster's kid whose daddy paid for access for years) so he's not paying attention to the day to day. kid goes rogue and violates stupid rules. but they're rules nonetheless. normally it would be a low level violation but this is michigan so its turned into a federal case. harbaugh will face punishment because he's in charge and its on his watch. michigan too. normally it would be a low level punishment. because its michigan it will be a future suspension for harbaugh and a postseason ban for michigan. you broke the rules, you get punished. that's how it goes. michigan cant complain too hard with that. if they punish them THIS year, that will be unprecedented and michigan will have reason to be pissed. i'd love to see them leave the conference if that happens, but they wont. at the end of the day michigan is a bunch of institutionalists and conservative. gheyre going nowhere.
