dane brugler on richardson: A one-year starter at Florida, Richardson became the full-time starter as a redshirt sophomore in head coach Billy Napier’s play-action, outside-zone offense. His 2022 season was full of highs and lows (his 53.8 completion percentage accurately reflects his up-and-down play), although his supporting cast was equally inconsistent from game-to-game. An athletic, large-statured passer, Richardson has the arm to drill every throw imaginable with plus velocity, while also using his legs to be an explosive playmaker (had four 100-yard rushing games compared to only three 250-yard passing games). However, he has scattershot tendencies and is more of a see-it thrower, lacking anticipation and relying on his arm over repeatable footwork/mechanics (only 393 career pass attempts). Overall, Richardson’s volatile accuracy and decision-making cloud his evaluation, but he is a freakshow talent with special size, speed and arm strength, and he put enough promising plays on film to be optimistic about his potential ceiling. He fits an RPO or NFL vertical-passing offense that will also utilize his athleticism, but he needs on-field reps and a patient coaching staff willing to weather the early storm. GRADE: 1st Round (No. 13 overall)

zadina with the same production as austin czarnik.

good for the nba.

the lions could use an upgrade at tight end. nothing wrong with that with this deep tight end class.

WAR overrates durability, fielding, and baserunning, ime. -
i dont consider cade and ivey to be an example of him using capital. duren was an example of using capital to acquire something. cade and ivey were draft picks, we did not have to trade assets to acquire those picks like we did with duren, bey, and stewart. he went out and specifically traded assets for bey, stewart, wiseman, bagley. he spent money on bogey and then didnt trade him. he spent money on jerami grant and got a much smaller return than anyone figured and then turned that small return into duren, who looks positive.

Can Detroit Find Trading Partner For Javier Báez?

javy was runner up mvp. he had a couple amazing years in chicago. he was great for a month with the mets too. when he gets hot, he's one of the better shortstops in baseball. but the other 75% of the time he's a hack at the plate and can be disinterested in the field. we'll see if this sparks him to be "interested" again. i dont think he likes being a professional joke. -

the best way to get something out of an employee is almost never humiliating them in public. this stuff should be handled behind closed doors. that said, i think javy is actually pretty sensitive to how people view him and plays better with a chip on his shoulder. and better when there is something to play for. perhaps this will motivate him? otoh, signing a player like that to a contract to play here was dumb. but they thought they were on the verge of competing... -

says more about WAR than Baez. -
i hope were not setting ourselves up to be sol'd again next year. schwartz took an 0-16 team to 11 wins and then....boom. i hope that doesnt happen here because i have faith in the lions for the first time since i was a kid and didnt know any better.

he's acquired and used his capital well. we used our capital on saddiq bey, isaiah stewart and james wiseman.

fantilli from michigan and then you have to decide if you want michkov from russia.
-
you want them to take conor bedard.
-
welp. 9th it is.
-
must. lose. this. game.
-
age is always relevant. hooker in round 3? maybe. hooker in round 1? no way.
-
yes....but i still hate the avs. i'll never let that go.

feldman loves michigan. they give him a lot of access. that said, this michigan team has few obvious question marks (depth at corner and potentially offensive tackle) and has harbaugh's usual pansy ooc schedule. they have 3 games on the schedule that should be tough: at penn state, at michigan state, and ohio state at home. it would be a big disappointment to lose more than one game if jj stays healthy. the expectation should be 12-0.

say what you want about okc - and i hate how they've tanked - but they havr found a lot of diamonds in the rough, and have found guys like sga and josh giddey with picks that werent #1. meanwhile troy took killian, traded for saddiq and stewart, and hasnt found anyone worth a damn in round 2. we'll see if cade works out. ivey and duren look promising, but dude....20(ish) games for 3 straight years? that's awful.

i really dont care if aj hinch gets replaced or not. no manager would win with this collection of **** talent. but i do think he's in tune with the new way in which baseball is moving, and i like that about him. if they bring in someone else, i would expect that person to have the same focus. i dont care about the astros thing, just like i dont care about aaron boone or joey cora or any of the other managers whose teams were stealing signs (like the 1940 tigers...). -

the idea that all hinch had to do was leave lange in the game and we win is silly. we dont know what would have happened if he left lange in. and if he did and lange got bombed it would be "why did he leave lange in for 2 innings when he normally works only one? hinch is teh stupidest." what we DO know is that what hinch did do didnt work. and because he's the boss, he deserves his share of the blame for that. -

leyland won a world series with a team of free agent mercenaries in florida. he never won another. hinch had three teams win more than 100 games in a season. jim leyland never won 100 games. if anything, leyland's teams in detroit continually underachieved. and like i said, when leyland was managing teams with poor talent, he lost a ton of games and then quit on colorado and florida.
