  1. hutch v thibs. this is (another) big game for the lions. the giants have a great record but we all think they've been a bit lucky and have had an easier schedule. a lion win here - on the road - would be a big sign that they might actually be turning a very small corner. that said, saquon probably goes off and the lions will lose by two tuddies because, well, theyre the lions.
  2. he's a very good slot receiver. like you said, he'll be a quality component next to an outside speed demon like jaymo is supposed to be and a tall guy who can go up and get it.
  3. i'm wary of anyone with big accuracy issues in college. in the end, all of the qb prospects are flawed in some way. the lions are going to have to pick one of them and live with the results. i really wanted bryce young but i dont think they'll get him barring a late season collapse (always possible with this team and they are probably one jarad goff injury away from that). if they cant get young then any of the next level qbs will be fine with me. i just hope they can snag one a little later in the draft and use their top picks on much needed defensive help. dt and cb in particular.
  4. the 1979 draft sucked after magic went #1. kelser being picked one selection before moncrief does hurt though. third best player in that draft? late 3rd round pick bill laimbeer.
  5. its the only good thing that came out of his nba career in detroit.
  6. let us never be conflicted about beating the bears. it is always good to beat the bears. always.
  7. the lions arent going to get bryce young or cj stroud. those guys are going to houston and carolina. if the lions want one of those two they should root for the bears or jags to tank the rest of the season and then trade up with their 3 #1s the next two years. other than that, look to take hendon hooker or will levis late in round one or early round two.
  8. the difference is that schwartz had stafford at qb and next year's lions will likely have a rookie qb and a journeyman placeholder.
  9. he's afraid to get hit? he's been "injury prone" his entire career. coming into the season all the talk was how he needed to be tougher and run between the tackles. he did it against philly and washington (and was awesome) and then got hurt and hasnt done it since. i dont think its a coincidence that they go with williams and reynolds/jackson as the main backs and only use swift on gadget pass plays. he simply refuses to run hard and just falls down if someone is around him. he runs scared. that play in the bears game where he caught the pass, ran around the middle of the field and then went backwards and fell down before he could get hit was swift in a nutshell.
  10. the lions had lost 98 straight games when trailing by 14 entering the 4th quarter. their first win since 1993. the bears are the first team in nfl history to score at least 29 points in three consecutive games and lose all three. in case you thought the lions defense was bad...
  11. melvin nieves, brian hunter, matt anderson, and matt drews. the randy smith mount rushmore.
  12. nobody who has followed the msu football program since dantonio got there would find any of this surprising. i dont know about all that stuff on the sidelines, its all hearsay and horrible things are said on sidelines all the time. that said, if youve watched this game in recent times, the idea that msu players might try to hurt michigan players is par for the course. nothing institutionally will happen to msu. the players involved will be suspended for the rest of the season and that's it.
  13. your hindsight has perfect vision.
  14. 8-1 vikings. didnt see that coming. still dont think theyre all that. good to see buffalo lose. sort of sick of all the people suddenly coming out of the woodwork as "lifelong" bills fans.
  15. i dont think you can take the safety there. it was just a fluke play.
  16. if the packers lose the lions will be in second place in the division...
  17. this is one of the craziest games i've ever seen.
  18. dime a dozen running back who will get the yards his oline gives him. he is a serviceable backup nfl running back, nothing more. not that that is a terrible thing. he's ok.
  19. lions d obviously played better in the second half. kept fields in the pocket. played contain. im not sure why the bears stopped rpos with fields. that's the one play the lions couldnt stop. they were hoping fields would drop back and stay in the pocket and the bears did that in the second half.
  20. time to watch some bears post game shows!
  21. yeeeessssss baby!!!!! suck it bears!!!!
  22. if being a lions fan for 50 years has taught me anything its not to count any chickens...
