  1. the rams will extend stafford and spread out the cap hit, so they have more salary cap room this year.
  2. they play them intermittently in the middle of the week (tues or wed for champions league, thursday for europa league). there are also cup competitions that take place during the season. the nba is toying with doing one of those. it all adds up to lots of games. even more when you throw in international competitions like world cup and regional championship qualifying.
  3. and like lee said, if you fail, you actually pay a price. unlike in the us where you are rewarded for failure.
  4. and you dont have to win it all to be rewarded. there are multiple competitions that teams compete in. the regular season means something because if you do well (top 4 in big leagues, top 2 in others) youre rewarded by playing in extra competitions the next year. but its not like here where half the league makes the "playoff" and that decides a champion. the champion is the team that finished with the best record in the regular season. plus there's the national team aspect that doesnt exist in us sports.
  5. soccer is the rich kids sport here, its the working class sport almost everywhere else in the world. you dont have to be an athletic mutant to be good either. messi and maradona are both small guys.
  6. mls ia not better. european leagues are the best leagues in the world. i find them very enjoyable. italian league on paramount, spain and germany and holland on espn +. its awesome. some english championship too. champions league starts up again today. real against psg. 😉
  7. then you should probably stay away from this thread, lol.
  8. ...mrs lincoln how was the play. if only john wilkes booth had been drafted by troy weaver. history would have been much different.
  9. its played anywhere where people have feet. the people's game. the most popular sport on the planet by far.
  10. its the world's sport because all you need is something round.
  11. it works because nothing is happening for most of the "action." basketball, hockey (and yes, soccer) have almost constant movement amd something is always happening. baseball is a game of standing around for the most part.
  12. i remember when beckham came to mls and everyone on the old site told me soccer would never catch on in america. now mls is thriving. i'll see you all this winter for the world cup.
  13. there's blood i tell ya! blood!
  14. come on staal. this game is very frustrating how we cant get anything going on the power play and every time they throw the puck at the net it gets tipped in for a goal.
  15. cant shoot like that from cade and expect to win. i see from the box score that killian has returned to form.
  16. gettin' worked now.
  17. i suppose if you dont like strategy and tactics, you can watch "soccer on crack", which is hockey.
  18. no wonder you like baseball.
  19. soccer is much more exciting than baseball. the best thing about baseball is that its boring and you dont actually have to pay attention. put it on in the background and go do yard work...
  20. they were up 2-0 but being outplayed. and then sure enough, now its 2-2.
  21. by almost every advanced statistical measure, bert is better than mantha. he scores, he defends, he goes into the corners, he gets back on defense, he is physical and will fight. i wouldnt trade bert for mantha straight up. if they offered me vrana and a #1 for bert i dont think i would take it. if i was a playoff contender looking for a top 6 forward for the playoffs, bert would be at the top of the list.
  22. MB is day drinking again.
  23. this whole thread is a bunch of old men shaking their fists at clouds. i'm just glad that its not me for once.
  24. i think they take a qb at 32 if one is there.
