  1. not so long ago california was pretty republican. things change.
  2. i think it will continue to be a reliable republican state for a while yet. but these things can change pretty quickly. hard to tell what will happen to republicans once trump dies or just how many northern and california folks can fit into harris and dallas counties and austin.
  3. 247 is already talking about harbaugh being in extension talks with michigan.
  4. do you think texas will continue to "trend" democrat? i think the democrats are about to find out that the hispanic population of texas is moving to the republicans. i dont know if that offsets the huge migration to texas from the north, but i suspect it will. as for me, your state is BATSHIT CRAZY right now when it comes to jury verdicts. you guys are handing out hundreds of millions of dollars like its candy. complete craziness.
  5. i was at the 2000 yard game too. the play he did it on was a real short gain, so nobody knew if he had actually broken the record or not, but they gave it to him anyway. and the next play he broke one 50 yards and removed all doubt.
  6. i actually think zadina's overall game has improved a lot since he got here. his mistake against washington notwithstanding, i think he plays better defense now and is more aware of what he needs to do. but he was the 6th pick in the draft and taken to score goals. he doesnt score goals. before i thought he was slava kozlov. now i think that's giving him too much credit. he may be due for a change of scenery, especially after they doled out that contract to fabbri.
  7. i agree with you about the electoral college and i think it should be discarded. not because it will enshrine a temporary democratic party majority as some here seem excited about, but because i dont see what purpose it really serves anymore. as for the comments on the south, i think there are just as many stupid people in the north and in big cities who vote democrat as there are rural white people in the south who vote republican. if you want to see a banana republic one party state full of fraud, dirty tricks, and corruption, led by people who arent very bright but think theyre better than you, look no further than the great city of chicago and the thousands of lemmings who line up and vote for the democrats every year and get nothing for it. i know, because i am one of them.
  8. at long last, our nightmare of a season is over. let the real season begin! DRAFT SEASON! i look forward to 50 tater posts with all his mock drafts and fake trades! cruzer? where you at? its your time to shine. let's talk about speed!!!!! lol.
  9. the more i hate the bears, the more i appreciate the packers. if i lived in wisconsin i would likely think differently. and eat more cheese.
  10. not directed at 75% of this board that talks about any part of the country that isnt bright blue as a bunch of racist gun toting teeth missing uneducated white redneck hicks? 😉
  11. a return to jim crow is an extreme exaggeration. and in another generation or two, population movements could turn a lot of the old industrial midwest into "consumer states," so be careful what you wish for.
  12. my 13 year old was fine. but she wasnt learning as much and there were a ton of distractions. most of the boys in her class - being boys - werent paying much attention. then i make her read books outside of class and she hates me. the four hour napoleon documentary didnt go over well either. being in person provides them with socialization chances too. that's really important. we usually bring a couple of her classmates over for remote learning "pods" just so she can be with friends.
  13. that's great! texas can be three states and florida two. we can make cali three states too since the valley js so different from the coasts. or better yet, combine the dakotas, montana, nebraska, idaho and western oregon/washington into one big state with only two senators! even better, let's keep dividing up territory until we get a temporary democrat super majority in the senate. and then when the population migration and party policies and demographics change again in 15 years we can split up the map again to make sure democrats have another majority. as much as i dont like the senate, i think getting rid of it and leaving things only to the house would be very scary. house members are nuts!
  14. or we could just combine a bunch of tiny northeastern states like vermont, delaware, rhode island, maine. why do those tiny states get 2 senators where their population is so low?
  15. i believe green bay clinched when the cowboys lost.
  16. cant imagine someone like dubois makes it to free agency. do you take a chance on max domi? or spend for 28 hear old hertl?
  17. red hogs is a really good name.
  18. i'm a big second amendment fan now.
  19. remote learning is terrible. most of the kids dont pay attention. we had remote kindergarten last year. total joke.
  20. chicago cancels school as teachers vote not to return to work in the classrooms because of covid concerns.
  21. when did they get to michigan?
  22. i think theyre still a year away from spending big money on a free agent. wait until edvinsson is ready to form a solid d partnership with seider, or lead a solid second pairing. then go get your center. in the meantime see if you can sign larkin to a reasonable extension. bert? that's a bigger question. you have to see if vrana can be in the mix too. he'll be due for a pay day too.
  23. if youre yzerman, do you spend the money for hertl next year? larkin and hertl as your top two centers might look pretty nice...
  24. yeah, i dont know. but i think that hard core scottish presbyterianism is a link between the appalachian peoples and a lot of the frontier settler populations you see in much of the upper south. they were some of the first settlers who came here to work from england/scotland/ireland, and then left virginia to settle the frontier (and north carolina). those who stayed in virginia - and who became much of the planter class of the plantation south - tended to be anglicans. think of our image of robert e lee (genteel southern gentlemen) as opposed to the rowdy, expressly overtly severely religious scots/irish who tended to be lower class workers. if you have curiosity stream, there is a really good lecture series on the history of the south taught by an american history professor. its really interesting as to how slavery developed and the peoples who made up what became the south as opposed to the north and the midwest.
