  1. I would be shocked if MBN was ever as tough as Shanny but I do see similar games for sure
  2. Ya that's what caused it for sure. They didn't seem to think it was a huge deal at first so I'm wondering if it got progressively worse or something, very strange to not have a real timeline on it.
  3. I'm guessing Mazur will play games in Detroit this season. It really is a shame he got hurt right away when he got called up last season.
  4. This is the last I've seen: “I haven’t got an update, but he’s not prepared to play at all for a little bit. I’d be misleading you and everybody else,” coach Todd McLellan said. “If I said it’s two weeks or three weeks, I don’t know. But he’s not ready to play yet.” They have been very ambiguous about it so far honestly. Wings officially sent Holl to Grand Rapids, looks like JVR is on "leave" right now (just had twins with one or both in NICU) so the three rookies made the team!
  5. That's a crazy deal for Walman imo
  6. Seems like an ultimatum: either we win while I give you a huge discount or I'm gone after this extension
  7. Honestly very shocked, two year extension at $12.5 million per
  8. Lines today: Finnie Larkin Raymond Kane Kasper DeBrincat Copp Compher MBN Söderblom Rasmussen Appleton JVR, Berggren Chiarot Seider Edvinsson ASP Johansson Hamonic JBD That second pair is fun
  9. I'm very excited to see the opening day lineup!
  10. I think Holl gets waived, it happened last season. I hope they can do something to get Berggren off the roster. He did play well in preseason so maybe someone trades for him?
  11. McLellan basically said Danielson was going to make the team before he got hurt. Here's what he had to say after last night: “I’m really happy with all three of the kids,” Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said. “We may as well bundle them all up and put them in a package (answer): They’ve all competed from day one until now, they’ve all improved, their confidence level has gone up. The group has been very accepting of them. They believe that the three of them can help the group, which is always a good sign. They’ve opened up some eyes.” Though McLellan wasn’t revealing any lineup decisions, he was asked what more Brandsegg-Nygård could have done to earn a spot and acknowledged, “not much more.” It really sounds like and feels like all 3 could make the club or at least a couple of them. Lets not doom too hard yet! The Red Wings still have two cuts to make to get down to 23, and McLellan cautioned, “what happens on Monday doesn’t necessarily mean that’s going to be what happens on Thursday.” That could involve some possible waiver decisions or players who are sent down but eventually get called back up. That’s something to keep in mind for this week. But if Detroit does open the season with two, or even all three, rookies, it would certainly be a welcome jolt of enthusiasm — both in the fan base, and maybe even in the dressing room. “They’re energizing the group right now, really,” McLellan said. “We started Axe in overtime, we put Finnie out in the second pair, and the guys are rooting for them. There’s a little life there that they get excited for them.” https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6689906/2025/10/05/red-wings-rookie-trio-preseason-finnie-brandsegg-nygard-sandin-pellikka/
  12. True, though Grand Rapids' defense was not great last season! I think if Cossa sustained his all star level play last season and didn't flounder in the second half, Yzerman might have pivoted away from the Gibson trade and let Cossa compete with Mrazek(or insert mid vet here)/Talbot for a spot out of camp. I hope this season he can sustain his high level of play all season in the AHL and force his way into the NHL.
  13. I'm honestly really excited about Plante as a prospect
  14. I mean Askarov was taken higher than Cossa the draft before Cossa and he has played 16 total NHL games in his career and is still slated to share the crease with Nedeljkovic this season. Askarov is probably one of the best goalie prospects in a long time, so we gotta have some patience.
  15. I've been loosely following that story, awful look for the Stars. That and private equity is buying up rinks across the US at least, the en****ification of everything continues.
  16. I wouldn't mind ASP starting in Grand Rapids just for some time to get used to physicality but offensively I think he's a NHL player right now. Encouraging..... I'd be fine waiving Berggren potentially Soderblom. Holl got waived last year so I can see it happening again, also Todd hasn't sounded too thrilled with Gustafsson from what I've heard.
  17. I think Finnie is making the team, he's looking good again tonight from what I can see. Good forechecking, making things happen for other players.
