  1. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5565735/2024/06/14/mlb-umpire-pat-hoberg-disciplined-gambling/ Major League Baseball said Friday night it has disciplined umpire Pat Hoberg for violating the league’s gambling rules, and that he is being held out of games during this season while an appeal is considered. MLB acknowledged the existence of the investigation in response to inquiries from The Athletic.
  2. I agree with this ruling. Maybe congress should take a crack at this. It is their job.
  3. “Running commercials on Bally of an old couple wearing face paint to games is the last thing they should be doing if you’re trying to make the game more relevant and appealing to a younger, more diverse audience.” ——— Winning is what will make a difference at the gate. Eight year rebuilds probably don’t get younger fans excited. Until this organization can put a couple of winning and competitive seasons on the field, I don’t think things will change much at the gate.
  4. The good Andrew Chafin gets it done.
  5. Dirks instead of Monroe on the radio side has been a welcome break in this series.
  6. So much for the shut down inning.
  7. Shelby Miller on the bump.
  8. Good interview. Thanks for posting the clip.
  9. Precisely this.
  10. Bull pen piece?
  11. …next year, or later?
  12. Even though it is most likely that Flaherty will be traded, the source of this trade speculation as posted above is Jim Bowden of the Athletic. He’s a clickbait artist.
  13. How about taking the Milwaukee Brewers approach. Lose your President of Baseball Operations, lose your manager, and trade your Cy Young Award winner. I’d be good with an ownership change above all.
  14. Is there any other way! Breakfast of champions.
  15. As of this morning the Tampa Bay Rays are last in the AL East. I didn’t see that one coming. The Orioles just completed a four game sweep of the Rays at the Trop.
  16. Well, I just ordered the new Lance Parrish book. I’m confident that is a more productive activity than listening to the Tigers play.
  17. Anything I can do to rush that along, let me know.
  18. The latest garbage look. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5554583/2024/06/10/minnesota-twins-city-connect-jerseys/
  19. Jack Flaherty will be the litmus test at the deadline for me. Should be very interesting.
  20. You blew the sarcasm meter out with that one.
  21. Your comment leaves me with the impression you didn’t read the article. If by chance you did, how do you dismiss what these players are reporting? There is no question in my mind these are factual comments. MLB could not be so stupid as to not know this is where this would end up.
  22. They want Flaherty to be fully productive at the deadline to max out potential trade interest.
  23. Can you imagine what this team would look like without Flaherty and Skubal! And it is a good probability Flaherty will be gone at the end of July.
