  1. Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung fractured his right wrist on a strange strike in the ninth inning of Monday night's 9-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
  2. A glass ‘half full’ perspective…commendable.
  3. Starting the season with a legitimate rotation is going to take some getting used to but it sure is a nice change from years past. Through four starts the Tigers will still have Casey Mize for game five. Of the 16 home games in April, 11 of them will start in the one o’clock hour.
  4. For a change, it’s a good situation that the organization doesn’t have to feel like they need to rush a top prospect, particularly a pitcher. If he succeeds at Erie and Toledo this year and gets a late call up to the bigs it will be a very successful year for him and the Tigers. Realistically, and this is somewhat hard to believe, Jobe is probably in the starting rotation on opening day next year. Staying healthy is paramount in his case.
  5. Toledo does travel to Charlotte for a mid month series in August this year. I’ll definitely have that one on the radar. This is a bit of a rarity since MLB took over the minors. Toledo used to make one or two trips to Durham every year.
  6. Erie plays a series in Richmond the last week of May. I don’t think it’s out of the question that Jobe will still be at AA then. Hoping to see him pitch there. Over the years Tiger affiliates have vacated anywhere near us geographically. The closest affiliate from us is now is about a 10 hour drive to Erie with a couple of rest breaks.
  7. "If this is what the game has become, it don't need me no more." Sparky Anderson
  8. I will be very interested in seeing how Yamamoto pitches for the Dodgers tonight.
  9. Not really sure where to put this but I think it is worth a note. One of my favorite baseball sites is shutting down. I don’t know if anyone else reads this piece but it has always been informative as far as I was concerned. https://ballparkdigest.com/2024/03/28/all-good-things-time-to-bid-farewell/
  10. In other news: Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco has been placed back on paid administrative leave through June 1, as part of a joint agreement between MLBand the MLBPA, a league source said Thursday. The agreement was first reported by the Tampa Bay Times.
  11. Joe Lieberman, a former longtime Connecticut senator and moderate Democrat who became the first Jewish American nominated to a major party’s presidential ticket as Al Gore’s running mate in 2000, has died. He was 82.
  12. I just read a piece on Ohtani that was interesting. If Ohtani made ZERO dollars playing for the Dodgers this year he would still make more than any other player in 2024 based on endorsements in the US and Japan. Raking it in!
  13. I’ll play along. https://clutchpoints.com/dodgers-news-shohei-ohtani-espn-inquiries-theft-allegations-interpreter
  14. And I absolutely enjoyed it! Made my week.
  15. Remind me again why the White Sox need a new ballpark.
  16. Let there be absolutely no doubt about it, this is a MUST WIN!!!
  17. Jordan Montgomery to Arizona on a one year deal.
  18. Tork with his third K
  19. Tyler Alexander is slotted as Rays #4 starter to start the season.
  20. 1-0 Rays on a Yondi Diaz home run.
  21. Tork 0-2 with two K’s
  22. Baez with a lead off double. How about that!!!
  23. pretty decent article on SS projections, worth the read. Forbes https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevevernon/2024/03/21/will-social-security-run-out-of-money-if-so-when/?sh=7c149d833ab7
  24. You’re asking the same question that millions of Americans are asking, and rightfully so. Projections aren’t encouraging for the life and/or stability of the program. There are plenty of articles out there about the future of SS that do provide some credible guidance on the program. Google them. The consensus is that if cuts are implemented, they will not be applied to people beyond a certain age. My impression through articles I’ve read is that you would likely not be affected. Nothing is in stone though. My son is 37 years of age. I do concern myself in his case. Easier said than done I know, but avoid getting stressed out over all the bull**** purposely put out their by competing media sources trying to influence your perspective on this.
  25. Reportedly the ship was experiencing mechanical issues prior to the collision.
