    As a note, 40% of those on this board that participated in the poll at the top of this thread regarding the projected season start were incorrect. Too many optimists around here.

    I could not agree more with those four words. I say that in the most bipartisan spirit I can muster. And right now, we need to find as much common ground as possible. But for the sake of conversation, and I’m serious…has the thought of Kamala Harris having to assume the presidency in a situation like this crossed your mind? I DO NOT ask this as some come back to your comments. My concerns about her being the #1 have been out there for a year now. She is not even close to being prepared for the job under the circumstances we’re dealing with now. Am I wrong on this?

    I’m not sure how the MLB.TV works but I recall he said he couldn’t access the playoffs last year. I don’t know if he could have with additional charges or it wasn’t an option, period. I received an email from MLB Audio yesterday immediately after negotiations failed informing me that I am extended with no charge until the season is decided on and dates are announced. At that time I’ll be notified of updated costs and at that point I’ll have the option to remain or cancel. The audio has been $20 annually for several years now. I wouldn’t cancel unless they got stupid with pricing.

    Very difficult question to answer. Would this be the signal/excuse China is looking for move against the west? My concern would be China’s response and our readiness to defend against them. Would they move on Taiwan? I don’t have the answer but I think about where it might go from here. It could potentially escalate to a world war. Lastly, if NATO doesn’t act on a nuke attack of Ukraine, you would have to wonder what NATO would do and under what circumstances. Just me thinking out loud.

    As much as I would have preferred they start on time, this doesn’t really bother me. I guess this was an expectation all along. Minor league games will start on time which makes life good for an “OK Boomer” like myself. There are two weeks during the MiLB season when Toledo, Erie, and WM are all at home the same week. I’d like to think we could see those three parks/teams this summer. Still lots of good ball without the majors.

    France intercepted a Russia-bound cargo ship in the English channel early Saturday on suspicion it is subject to new European Union sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine. French authorities said they were checking whether the 400-foot commercial vessel, named the Baltic Leader, is owned by a Russian entity on the EU sanctions list. The boat, which was carrying vehicles, is now docked in the French port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, where it is being inspected, a French official said, adding that its crew was being cooperative. The U.S. put a boat of the same name on the U.S. sanctions list for belonging to Promsvyazbank, a state-owned bank focusing on Russia’s defense sector that is also on the EU sanctions list. -WSJ

    Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Meetings are done. Progress was minimal. There are four days left for MLB and the MLBPA to get a new labor deal or regular-season games are going to be canceled. They've had four days to move and there's been next to nothing -- just incremental. And that's that.

    Index or actively managed if you don’t mind me asking. Meta (FB) has been beaten up recently for sure. Keep in mind, you are unlikely to have an up to date knowledge of a fund’s holdings. Public disclosure of holdings generally lag by about six weeks. If the fund is actively managed the manager may have reduced that holding already.

    So, anyone still buying the dips? Big dips? The market is in a perfect storm for destruction…rising rates, war, inflation…you name it. The Fed has the ball now and it will be very interesting to see if they raise 50 basis points mid-March if things are as volatile as they are now-I would be surprised. They are in a Catch-22 spot.
