Anybody that seriously thought this organization was going to be a player this week was way too optimistic. When participation in the Rule 5 draft is the highlight of the winter meetings for a team, it’s pretty disappointing. But it is what I expected. If Detroit wins this division, they’ll come in the back door. is it spring training yet?

Help me out here, anyone. I’m pretty sure I recall that Hinch took a bat to a couple of video monitors in either the tunnel or in the locker room during a game at one point during the season the team was stealing signs electronically. Perhaps after the game, seriously not sure? He was upset that the cheating thing was going on, and knew about, but never stopped it, or spoke up. Does this ring a bell for anybody here? I seem to recall this information being put out after the story broke on the whole ordeal.

Or possibly better. I’ve never been a big fan of AJ Hinch but that has nothing to do with my point. He is here for two more years to begin with, for better or worse. Nobody out there is calling about interviewing Hinch, that I’m sure of. He’s not going anywhere. A year from now, yeah maybe. Just me, but I’d wait to see what next year looks like.

That would be the expectation, yes. I don’t understand an extension with two years left on the existing contract. See what next year’s progress looks like and talk next winter if things look like they’re still trending positive. Not a good business move as I see it.

Interesting. At face value I’m not excited about it. With two years remaining why would you extend a guy that hasn’t had a winning season. I realize they’re still rebuilding but why the rush? This guy ain’t Casey Stengal.

Leyland spent years in the Tigers organization in several positions. His spent years as a coach in the Tigers organization as a minor league coach. Don’t know what hat he’ll wear going in but he’s a Detroit Tiger as far as I’m concerned.

I just finished reading a great piece on Leyland in the Athletic by Stavenhagen. Excellent piece. Glad he got in. He was very deserving.

I have had for 30 years or so a Michigan baseball hat. Maze letter on blue hat. Bought it back in the Gary Moeller era. I’m pulling that hat out today and will wear it with the most sincere and earnest hope that UM utterly destroys everything that looks like Alabama!!! **** Alabama!

We were living in Tallahassee during Bowden’s first years down there. What a turnaround for the program when he took over. I guess I’ve got a forever soft spot for Seminole football. Haven’t lived there in ages but I feel for the program today after they had the season they had and got ****ed over for the sake of keeping the SEC’s ass kissed.

The ****ing media fretted over the FSU quarterback situation after their starter goes down. My takes is the team won two games w/o arguably their best player on the field. FSU got ****ed over and the SEC sux!!!
