  1. Amid rising pressure on Egypt to admit Palestinian refugees, the country's prime minister, Mostafa Madbouly, said it remained committed to protecting its land and sovereignty regardless of the cost. "We are prepared to sacrifice millions of lives to ensure that no one encroaches upon our territory,” Madbouly told a gathering in Sinai of military leaders, local tribal leaders, members of parliament and other politicians. The prime minister said Egypt would never allow any imposed situation or the settlement of regional issues at its expense. -WSJ
  2. Yes if you’re referring to Gorosh.
  3. I believe chas said that he was unaware of “liberals” necessarily being anti Jewish. Using the definition I have accepted to describe liberals, I agree. I often hear negative comments about what this liberal said or what that liberal did. The word liberal for a lot of people is a substitute for the word Democrat. For years that was, imho, acceptable and, weighed against conservative principles, often true. However, the extreme left/radical left/progressive left are still, incorrectly so, labeled liberals. I believe that’s where the confusion arises in some of the conversations. My two cents worth….
  4. The US response in support of Israel in its war against Hamas caught the Gaza-based Palestinian terrorist group off guard, a Hamas official told The Financial Times. Speaking from his office in Beirut, senior Hamas political leadership member Ali Barakeh told the UK news outlet that they "didn't expect this much of a response" from the US. "An Israeli response? Yes, we expected that. But what we're seeing now is the entrance of the US into the battle, and this we didn't count on," he said, according to the Times. These statements come after Washington diverted many of its forces to the area amid Israel's launching of Operation Swords of Iron, the latest war with Hamas. -Jerusalem Post
  5. BREAKING! Canary Mission can confirm that @RepRashida has extensive fundraising ties to Hamas insiders, incl working w/Hamas activist Salah Sarsour who co-hosted a 2018 election campaign event. Tlaib’s Canary Mission profile: https://canarymission.org/ individual/Rashida_Tlaib…
  6. Very. Had he not quit on himself and his team, he could possibly be facing Bochy in the World Series. I imagine everyone saw that he texted Bochy before game seven of the Houston series informing Bochy he was ready to pitch if he needed him. Of course, that was a play on the 2014 World Series.
  7. TEL AVIV—In the weeks leading up to Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel, hundreds of the Palestinian Islamist militant group’s fighters received specialized combat training in Iran, according to people familiar with intelligence related to the assault. Roughly 500 militants from Hamas and an allied group, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, participated in the exercises in September, which were led by officers of the Quds Force, the foreign-operations arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the people said. 8. He and Preller didn’t get along, at all. They weren’t on the same page about anything and it just came to a head. Good for Melvin. He’s a Bay Area native.
  9. Bob Melvin is officially named new Giants manager.
  10. Dan said on the Petzold podcast that he believes the Tigers will look for a veteran bat, or two. He also expects the team to compete for the division title. I’ve gotten to the point where I’ll have to see it to believe it.
  11. This entire playoff season has been a “not what I expected.” I’m happy Arizona got in. The organization earned this one.
  12. Yes.
  13. Petzold and Gorosh have Dan Dickerson on this weeks podcast, Days of Roar. That’s on my to-do list.

  15. Thank you for posting this. Very informative.
  16. Bochy is going back to the World Series. He’ll have a chance to join Sparky and LaRussa in the record books if he can win one more series.
  17. I believe the current war involving Israel and Hamas is something that could really go bad. The initial shock of seeing the innocents being slaughtered as Hamas entered Israel drew immediate sympathy from a lot of observers of the Middle East. From a political perspective, the graphic pictures/videos, etc., moved a lot of people to side with Israel’s response to the attacks. For the most part, MSM has been neutral to supportive of the IDF’s actions. There are always outliers. Based on past history, I fear the longer this war lasts, the more likely it is that Israel will be labeled the bad guy. Defeating Hamas can’t happen without civilians deaths in Gaza. Hamas knows this and has proven it is part of their story, nothing new. Given time, I expect the media will make ongoing civilian deaths in Gaza front and center and the initial outrage over the slaughter of the Jews will be yesterdays news. How will long will surrounding Arab countries, currently neutral toward the the Jews, remain quiet? Probably not terribly long. Support for Israel will erode if this war drags on. I have no doubt Iran hand a hand in this attack. They know Israel’s support is thin in a lot of governments that are in a ‘wait and see’ mode right now.
  18. I may have commented earlier on Morningstar’s projection for future Fed actions, which is the Fed will cut in March 2024. M* has a pretty good track record on economic projections. We’ll see if they call this one correctly.
  19. Who wants to project the top of the 10 year benchmark climb? It topped 5% earlier this morning. I’ve seen commentary suggesting 8% is possible?
  20. In that I’m pulling for Texas and Arizona, you can go ahead and book a Houston-Philly World Series. I’ve been really consistent throughout the playoffs in pulling for the losing teams.
  21. Bob Melvin to interview for the SF manager’s gig. He’s a Palo Alto native and bay area guy. I’m thinking he’s the next SF manager.
  22. Riley Pint unretired in 2022 and is currently on the Rockies 40 man roster. He has been THE definition of a blown draft pick. We saw him start a game for the Asheville Tourists during their first series of the year in 2018 at Delmarva, MD. He didn’t get out of the first inning as I recall due to an arm injury, one of many in his career. I think he missed that entire year as a result.
  23. https://www.wral.com/story/a-detroit-synagogue-president-was-fatally-stabbed-outside-her-home-police-dont-have-a-motive/21108343/ No motive? I’ll bet I’d have a pretty good guess what the motive was. We’ll see where this one goes.
  24. https://www.wsj.com/video/video-analysis-shows-gaza-hospital-hit-by-failed-rocket-meant-for-israel/120A1C22-BA32-418E-8837-BC4141FEFB00.html?mod=mhp Hamas is guilty of the hospital deaths and injuries. Hamas lies. Sad, but the media, for the most part, is willing to parrot what an avowed terrorist organization says.
  25. The U.S. has collected “high confidence” signals intelligence showing that the explosion at a Gaza hospital compound on Tuesday was caused by the militant group Palestinian Islamic Jihad, U.S. officials said, buttressing Israel’s contention that it wasn’t responsible for the blast.
