  1. They get done 20 minutes earlier though!
  2. The billionaires will get to keep doing it though.
  3. Small towns would last the longest, guns or not.
  4. Petzold mentioned that the Tigers are making a push for Ha Seong Kim. He's very interesting and will likely sign a little shorter term than other big names due to injury concerns.
  5. Then why do they complain about the pitch clock, something which makes games shorter every day?
  6. 20% of Democrats own a gun. That's about 20 million people. That's more than enough to provide powerful resistance. It's not like there is going to be millions of people fighting a war on the streets. The United States military could crush the left and right if so inclined, but I don't think that is a likely scenario.
  7. What percent of farm employees would that be?
  8. I'd rather they got paid a fair wage and be allowed to stay. If someone is productive and stays out of trouble, I want them to have a quick path to legal immigration.
  9. I think it's an abomination, but giving us a normal 10th and 11th would definitely make it better. Not many games were going longer than that before the rule change anyway.
  10. They probably like it, but I don't think it makes a big difference. They just avoid a small number of long games during the season. Where it might make a big difference is pitcher management and maybe protecting arms. Regardless, if fans were 90% against it, it wouldn't happen. I don't think the majority of fans like it, but the ones who really hate it are probably the ones MLB is not worried about losing.
  11. This was my first thought when I heard it. If you bring up your best hitter in the most important moment of the game, he is going to be walked intentionally very frequently.
  12. Both are good. I often have almonds in my trail mix.
  13. I do. I usually put them in my daily bowl of oatmeal
  14. I don't remember the majority of fans liking the extra ining base runner.
  15. Anybody that even discusses a dumb idea like that should not be commissioner.
  16. I find that one way to handle bullies in positions of authority is a form of passive aggressiveness where you do your work, but don't engage with them much (maybe a sarcastic smirk once in a while just for your own satisfaction). Standing up to them works in the moment, but doesn't solve the problem because they'll want revenge. Subservience is never a good response because they'll just bully you more quietly. Passive aggressiveness works especially well with extoverts because extroverts (and it's been my observation that most bullies are extroverts)can not handle passive aggressiveness. Yes, my solution is immature and don't do it anymore, but it works!
  17. I don't think you are a slappy.
  18. I do not make the assumption that they are wiling and able to build a perennial winner. I am sure that they would like to see that, but I am not sure that their budget will allow it. I get the impression that they will not be like they were under Dombrowski/M.Ilitch, but I don't know whether they'll be like Tampa Bay or let's say Milwaukee. I think Harris is smart enough so they won't be Pittsburgh, but I don't know what to expect beyond that.
  19. Arenado is three years older than Bregman, so theoretically getting Arenado for 3 years would be like getting years 4-6 of a Bregman contract. In that case, Bregman for 6 years would be preferable to Arenado for 3 years. I don't know if they can get Bregman for 6, but if they could I think it would be a good deal. As for whether the timing is right, they were in the playoffs last year and they have the best pitcher in baseball with two years left on his contract. The timing seems right to make a push if the right fit is available.
  20. They can potentially make big gambling money off these daily head to head battles.
  21. I don't want them to spend for the sake of spending, but, but I think there is a chance that Harris/Ilitch might be less aggressive with contracts than I want. I still fear a Tampa Bay situation where they have a below average payroll and trade away any player who gets too good/expensive.
  22. No, but those are the kinds of contracts I am expecting from the Tigers - short-term seemingly expensive contracts for flawed pitchers who the Tigers think they can fix.
  23. Good. You're not getting him short-term and I think six years is the best you'll get.
  24. The guy he's batting for goes to third? The whole concept is probably the worst baseball idea I've ever heard which means there is a good chance of it happening.
