  1. When you like a hitter, you call him clutch. When you dislike a hitter, you call him streaky.
  2. I don't know about a conservative bias, but they LOVE Trump and will do anything they can to make sure he stays in the news.
  3. Some cases...like when a 105 win team loses to a 100 win team.
  4. I always forget that..probably because we already had it in Massachusetts. It shouldn't have been extraordinary, but given how conservative we are in the US, it was kind of a big deal to get anything done with healthcare at all.
  5. Most power hitters (we hope he's that) are streak hitters.
  6. Thanks for noticing that. It was assumed by many on the right that he would be a radical liberal, so they stuck with that story even when it turned out he did not behave radically at all. I liked Obama more than most Presidents (not necessarily a ringing endorsement!) He didn't do anything extraordinary, but I thought he was a steadying influence which I think is an important presidential quality especially given that he was elected during the worst recession of our lifetimes.
  7. I always considered Obama to be mixed race and more White because the person who gave birth to him was White. However, he would have been considered Black in the days when Blacks were generally treated like animals. For him to elected President by a significant margin was truely historic. Tim Scott would be less historic, although certainly a huge upset given the Republican electorate.
  8. It is going to be come that because "Americans love brackets".
  9. Why? It is not uncommon for teams with lesser regular season records to succeed in the playoffs. The post-season is mostly a crap shoot.
  10. I would never consider a reliever to be a building block. They tend to have short primes and are more useful to contending teams than building teams. However, given how weak the central division is, I don't know if I want the Tigers to be in re-building mode. They may be able to contend this year and/or next if they can get enough pitchers healthy. They might even consider not trading but extending Rodriguez so he won't opt out. It depends on how well he pitches and how well the team plays the next two months.
  11. Yes, They will not understand the next level of technology which they can't even imagine today.
  12. Young people that grow up with this stuff will learn how to distinguish real images from fake. Sure people will still lie and deceive as they always have, but it won't be any worse than what we have today. Look at all the people who believe every dumb thing they see on facebook or twitter now. What about people who fall for e-mail and phone scams. It's usually older people who are not savvy with technology.
  13. You guys jinxed with your Bradley Jr sucks talk.
  14. It's not good enough to overcome his anemic bat, but Bradley at least has elite defense.
  15. You don't really need a whistle blower for Trump, because he is so obviously corrupt and criminal and has been for over 40 years. It would be comical if so many didn't fall for it. I have no idea how you guys have been hoodwinked into thinking he's a poor innocent victim.
  16. But those guys now play less often against divisional opponents, so wouldn't that lower the attendance for teams in their division?
  17. I generally could not care less about MLB breaking an attendance record as it is of no benefit to me. However, if it's because of faster paced games and it encourages them to stay with the pitch clock as is, then it's a good thing.
  18. You can't build a team of nine average players though, because some of them will be bad in a given year. If you have some stars, you petty much know they'll be at least good every year and you can build around them.
  19. I would like to have both of them.
  20. The one consistent strength on this team the last three years has been the bullpen. If they can keep doing that when they actually have a good team, That will help a lot.
  21. I always assumed the FBI knew Trump was a big problem long before 2016 and didn't need any prodding from Clinton or any other politician to be aware of the danger of his gaining influence.
  22. Big-time projection.
  23. $340 million which comes out to $24 million per year. I'd take him though.
  24. There really isn't anybody there that will do any better. They have no starting pitchers ready to step in. We can hope that Skubal and Manning come back strong.
  25. There were greater players than him, but if greatest means great player who was also led a great life outside the game, then you can certainly argue that he was the greatest tiger.
