  1. Tanaka was an interesting case. He wasn't as good after the injury, but he was still pretty good without getting surgery. Probabilities are never 100%. Even the probabiliy of fully recovering from surgery is far from 100%. The probability of recovering and then staying healthy and durable is even less.
  2. When a pitcher has a bad elbow or shoulder for an extended period of time, the odds are never good!
  3. Baddoo was rushed to the Majors because of Rule 5. He should have been in AA last year and AAA this year. I consider him as a prospect on the right track.
  4. The Tigers are finally learning how to get on base. The baserunning will come next. Be patient.
  5. Micro didn't sound very confident about Carpenter.
  6. Maybe, it could work for the Tigers!
  7. Although Chisholm had two homers and six RBI tonight.
  8. The behavior in this case defines the person.
  9. Does the GOP watch anything anymore other than Fox News, auto racing and religious channels?
  10. I would back that strategy as well. I have a feeling we are going to regret the Jobe signing over Mayer.
  11. Which player is going to refuse to wear the uniform? Or will there be any unifotrm at all?
  12. So, no more extra innings?
  13. This is how I feel. I was never very religious, but I believe in Christian values as taught by Jesus. I don't care much for organized religion. I am far from having great Christian values as it's not easy being kind and tolerant all the time, but I try. 😄
  14. Thanks for doing that. Yes, the stats are correlated with themselves, but I have read in a few places that they are not highly correlated with future performance stats like ERA. I have not done the analysis myself.
  15. I don't want them to trade for prospects. I want players that can help in the next couple of years. Nobody is untouchable, not even Skubal. The only thing is the Tigers have had very poor luck/skill in trades, so trading Skubal would be dangerous. I don't get why Lange is considered better than Vest since Vest has better numbers this year. I didn't look at the statcast numbers because I don't believe they are predictive for pitchers. The only predictions I will make is that neither will be the next Hader.
  16. I'm thinking of the Willy Adames trade last year where the Rays traded Adames for two relatively unknown pitchers. it turned out to be a good trade for both teams as Adames has been quite good since the trade, Rasmussen has surprisingly turned into a good starter at least for now and Feyereisen has been a good reliever.
  17. There is nothing negative about Lange's stats right now. I just don't have enough information about him to project his future results with any accuracy. most pitchers with low BABIP and 0 home run rate don't sustain that performance. We already know Hader is one of the relatively rare pitchers who can keep his BABIP consistently low, so that is not a factor for him. Because he can keep his hit rate so low, his high above average walk rate is also not a factor. I am not really concerned about Lange. I don't really have a strong opinion on him. He's a failed starter having 40+ innings of success as a reliever. That is a positive, but not enough information to say that he'll be a top reliever in the future. I am not advocating trading Lange at all. I just don't think he is such a sure thing that I am going to make him untouchable. I don't know that he should be any less tradeable than Will Vest who has even better numbers this year. I wouldn't trade anyone for prospects. I am done with that, but if they can package some relivers for a hitter who can help the next couple of years, I'd be all for it.
  18. It seems unlikely that you would think that, but your response to my post made it seem that way.
  19. So, are you predicting that Alex Lange is the next Josh Hader?
  20. I did a search and read some Bible quotes about killing people if they had sex outside of marraige. That's the kind of thing that turns people away from the Bible and religion. My mother's home health aide once told me I am going to hell for not believing in God. 😀 Anyway, I hope that you do love all people and don't want bad things to happen to them, because I believe that's what it should be all about. That's the last I'll say on this topic in this forum.
  21. Are his percentile rankings good because he's having a good year or are they good because he is doing something different now? These statcast stats are generally not predictive for pitchers. His walk rate is the same as last year His BABIP is .245 and he has allowed 0 homers. Can he keep that up? His k rate is a little higher which is good.
  22. OK, he tried to sound nice about it which is better than most are doing these days, but where did Jesus say that he discouraged homosexuality? It sounds like Jason Adams is uncomfotable with people that have different identities than himself and is using religion to try to justify his feelings. I don't think they should have made them wear these uniforms. It has nothing to do with baseball and given the strong masculinity and peer pressure among most male athletes, they had to know that there would be push back. This wasn't a good idea
  23. Jesus never said anything about homosexuality or LGBTQ (or whatever the acronym is now). I don't think people were even aware of different sexual identities back then. Jesus preached kindness and treating all people with respect. You can argue about whether sexual identity should be taught in school and at what age, but it's not Christian to marginalize people who are different from you. If Jason Adam thinks he is superior to other people based on his identity that makles him a bigot.
