  1. If this whole thing has shown nothing, it's how dumb the NCAA is for not permitting two-way communication between a coaching staff and players on offense and defense. They allow it in baseball between coach and catcher, but not in a louder, more open environment?
  2. You can't convince me that the Lions at full health couldn't beat either of these teams.
  3. Watching the end of this game.
  4. As far as surprises this year, I'd put the Giants near the top of the list. I didn't expect them to improve significantly off a playoff win a year ago, but I also didn't expect them to completely fall off a cliff. This won't help.
  5. The afternoon show on 97.1 was borderline unlistenable before this happened. It's usually just all gimmicks and gaslighting within an echo chamber. Now, I can't make it one segment without turning on an audiobook instead. Valenti gets ears, that's what he's paid to do. But don't look to him for honest anything.
  6. I don't believe that Michigan exiting the B1G is even remotely realistic. Too much money at stake all around. I do believe that Michigan would attempt to insnare the B1G in litigation with the goal of stalling any punishment. Which - starting at that point - would open them up to vacating wins. The precedent of vacating wins is that it only happens when an ineligible player has played in that game. Usually because they were paid to play in it. I do think that the B1G and NCAA would seek to have Harbaugh deemed "ineligible" to coach in any game played under an injunction. They don't want to "incentivize" lawsuits.
  7. The AFC is just so stacked. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the Dolphins, Bills, Chiefs, or Ravens represent the AFC, and only mild surprise at the Jets, Chargers, Steelers, or Browns. And at least one of those eight teams won't even make the playoffs. In the NFC, I think it will almost definitely be one of the Eagles, 49ers, or Lions, with the Cowboys and Seahawks behind them. As for the Ravens, I think they're just too hot-and-cold to win three straight playoff games. 38-6 over the Lions and 37-3 over the Seahawks is great, but losing to the Colts and Steelers and keeping the Cardinals within 7 is not. Which Ravens team will come to play in the wildcard, divisional, or AFCCG? They'll need the former for each one.
  8. I don't think the Ravens are a Super Bowl team, but I'm glad they're in the AFC.
  9. Falcons-Vikings is worth tuning into. Coming down to the wire.
  10. I still think the Lions at their best are better than the Hawks at their best. Two bad turnovers from winning by double digits and then likely a coin toss from winning anyway.
  11. Meanwhile the Bears have turned over the ball five times against the Saints. On the bright side they have Montez Sweat for the next four years.
  12. Ben Johnson just called a second down run play in his kid’s flag football game. TP is in that game thread.
  13. Who woulda thought two years ago that we’d be featured prominently in THIS promo at the bye? v12044gd0000cl2f0cfog65i2epd6qng.mp4
  14. For all the talk of being upset at the Lions for prioritizing culture over a deadline upgrade, at least we aren’t dealing with this.
  15. Flint and Dearborn were in on it too?? Man this does run deep.
  16. I agree. I also think we should take some time and enjoy this though. Best team in the North by what feels like a fairly wide margin, probably the youngest very good team in the NFL, and not only a legitimate Super Bowl threat, but also a threat to make this success sustainable. Even when the Lions were good in recent past years, it felt like it was talent they had lucked into (Stafford, Calvin, and Suh), surrounded by band aids and patchwork. This feels like a real team. And the Packers are 2-5.
  17. With that error, the Diamondbacks are virtually guaranteed to score at least one in the bottom of the 9th. That's just baseball.
  18. I feel for Rangers fans after what happened in 2011. They deserve one.
  19. Instead of Pats assistants, they should hire Senior Defensive Assistants with head coaching experience from the Eagles..... Would be a shame if an NFC team hired a head coach from that position.......
  20. If this is what this place is like at 6-2, I shudder to think what it would have historically been like at 0-11-1.
  21. Ultimately, while Holmes has not been perfect, he hasn’t given us reason to doubt him. He’s masterfully turned complete garbage into gold in just over two years. I would rather us stand pat than add the wrong piece, and if that’s the way he saw it, so be it. I do think we are still good enough to beat any team on any given Sunday.
