I think this assumes that Sherrone Moore is equal to Harbaugh at recruiting, or worse. Three straight trips to the semis and a championship should allow for a bump in recruiting. Harbaugh - for one reason or another (not the least of which is this yearly dance with the NFL) - has not seen it happen. I don’t think it’s crazy to think that Sherron Moore could come in and start punching above Harbaugh’s weight in recruiting. That said, I think there would simultaneously be a drop in development, as I agree that that piece is largely Harbaugh. Balancing the two, I agree it would be hard to stay as a national contender like this long-term, but at the same time I don’t think Michigan is destined to go back to 8-4 and an Outback Bowl a la Hoke.

I don't think Lions even actually booed Stafford. They booed the Rams. It's not like a picture of Stafford was shown on the big screen, or his injury report appeared on the screen and people cheered. Not saying those things wouldn't have happened, the crowd was rabid. But still. Differentiating boos of the opposing team and boos of Stafford isn't possible.

Whatever we do, let’s make sure the problem persists for the next 50+ years by building the next stadium outdoors too.

Bad business IMO. The Patriots have not hired a GM and both the Bears and Commanders may or may not want a QB. Hold up a sign that says "trade up to get the 2nd best QB"

I think ideally you are “paying” (as in long-term) no more than three of your OL. Right now that’s Decker and Ragnow. I think my ideal would be that by 2026, it’s Sewell, Ragnow, and Jackson. Your RG can be a mid-round draft pick and your RT can be a higher-end draft pick. I agree that decisions will have to be made. CJGJ may be on the chopping block. It’s possible Jackson would be too. I do think though that the OL is the heart of the success of this team this year though. With a line of Decker/Jackson/Ragnow/Glasgow/Sewell, the Lions have only lost one game, and it was the Cowboys BS game. Maintaining that level of success on the line is critically important, whether it’s in-house or by adding pieces in the draft or free agency.

I haven’t even looked at free agency or draft prospects. Well actually I rage looked at free agents a couple times when Jerry Jacobs got beat earlier this season. But that doesn’t count. Generally, I’m thinking: Free Agency: Starting cornerback, starting edge, extend Jonah Jackson, re-sign Graham Glasgow, re-sign CJGJ Draft: Starting pass-rushing DT, future starting cornerback, future starting IOL, backup edge, OT maybe, depth

Hell they might host three. If Love plays how he did against Dallas that Packers team is going to be very difficult to beat.

I think the Dan Campbell coaching tree will generally be a good one. His style is based primarily off of quality leadership instead of pure Xs and Os, which I think is more apt to be successful.

I don't think it's that they don't think highly of him, I think that it's they just see his limitations. He's fantastic at pass rush, but not as great in run defense. He's just something of a rotational player. They really need an edge across from Hutch who can do both.

I tried to go to Second Best three hours before the game and wasn't allowed in by security who said they were over capacity. Went to Bakersfield instead and they were packed. Quoted us a 60-90 minutes wait, but got us in quickly on an end cap sharing a table with a party of four. Afterwards went to Bodega and they were packed as well. Standing room only.

I think this is largely it. The Lions have good safeties, one usually decent corner in Sutton (who had an up-and-down day against LA), and one dreadful corner in Vildor. When you have 60 yards to work with and the pass rush isn't immediate, someone is going to get open against Vildor (or Sutton) without safety help in the immediate area... When you have 20-30 yards to work with though, that's harder to do, because the safety coverage will be there more often than not.

The NFL actually collects the gate from the game. So the Lions are "only" collecting the extra stuff - concessions, merchandise, parking, etc. - and still paying out the same number of expenses from the game. I believe I've heard that NFL teams generally actually make less overall from playoff games than from regular season games. That said, as was mentioned, the economic impact to the surrounding area is immense. Judging by the bars I went to after the game on Sunday, it wouldn't surprise me if tens of millions was generated to the local area.

I don't want to put the cart too far ahead of the horse.... Tampa first.... but having watched the Green Bay/Dallas highlights, Love is a concern. I'm not ready to say he's the next big thing in the lineage of Favre and Rodgers, but if he consistently plays how he did against Dallas, he will be. I genuinely like our matchup against San Francisco. They're very good, but they would have a tougher time exploiting our weaknesses.

I agree. All told, I think the two worst playoff teams in the NFC (and maybe the NFL) played last night. It's just how the seeding shook out this year. Add in the Lions being at home, hungry, and having what I think is far better coaching, and I like the Lions a lot. Probably to cover 6 as well. But I don't want to overlook the Bucs.

It would be a mistake to say "Lions beat Tampa 20-6 in week five, Lions were missing many key pieces, Lions now have those key pieces, therefore the Lions will easily win" Neither of these teams are what they were back then. Baker missed some wide open throws in week five to guys who would have gone for 6. It could have easily been a 20-20 game headed to OT. Based off of last night, Baker might make those throws this Sunday. Rachaad White went for 72 yards last night against the Eagles good defensive line. He went for 26 against the Lions. For the Lions, they basically won the game in week five without running the ball. The leading rusher was Craig Reynolds, who went 10 carries for 15 yards. I doubt they shut down a healthy Gibbs and Montgomery in the same fashion. Another week, another team with good receivers set to exploit the Lions porous secondary. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin might be getting older, but I'm sure they'll have a delicious late Sunday lunch on Vildor.

It all depends. Knowing Campbell, almost certainly not. Not knowing how this happened with the Eagles though, it's harder to say. Here, there are a lot of rumblings about how this went down, but it's not publicly known. If it was in fact the case that Sirianni lost control of the locker room, which subsequently led to problems on the field? Then it needs to be determined whether it is fixable. If it's not, and you run it back with him anyway? 2024-2025 is going to be a lost year where they go 5-12 and fire him around week 10, despite a roster that is built to win now. The internal postmortem will be what determines his fate.
