I haven’t seen the full interview yet, but based on how 97.1 reported it this afternoon, it sounded like he took it as discipline for missing voluntary workouts, which he claims were missed due to the birth of his child. There are probably many factors here, not sure taking to social media with cryptic tweets like this is the way I would suggest he go about handling it though. Of the 53-man active roster, only 48 can dress for game day. Usually injuries compose the other five, but in week one he’ll just be one of the five healthy scratches.

Gambling in the locker room you say? I’ve got someone named Roger on line two requesting more information.

I think the team did too, which is why it’s so curious. It was confirmed to not be injury related, which only leaves locker room problems (unlikely) or a trade on the table that they’re working out the details on and don’t want him hurt before they can finalize it. The obvious possibilities are Chris Jones (who the Chiefs wouldn’t want to trade to us until after the TNF game) or Mike Evans (who would probably want a contract negotiated before the trade finalized). Maybe Aaron Donald too, though not sure what the holdup would be. I don’t think there would be a drawn out Twitter play by Buggs if it wasn’t a big name that took a while. But I can’t imagine what else would cause this.

Yup. Why schedule Florida State and even possibly lose, when you could schedule Little Sisters of the Poor and win 65-3? LSU will probably have to win out to make the playoff now, while Alabama and Georgia can stand to lose a game along the way. And Brian Kelly killed a kid.

“You can see where this is headed” what? Large schools in Texas (TCU… Baylor… A&M… Tech… UT) perpetually overhyping and underachieving? Welcome to the 21st century with that one. (not directed at you Deleterious, just the thought that Baylor being incredibly overrated and losing to a Sun Belt school means more than that Baylor sucks this year just like they did last year)

Birkett reported yesterday that Buggs was the only player on the 53-man not seen at the open practice, and now this…. Wonder if a trade is imminent.

I thought the “free Harbaugh” stuff was a bit ridiculous. What are we freeing him from? Watching his son’s game instead of making millions coaching what was effectively a preseason game? Give me a break. Let’s have a little perspective, he’s not oppressed. At the same time, I also don’t really care. I’m sure it was player-led, and young adults that age do stupid things. It wasn’t so bad that the university needed to step in and stop them like the Northwestern nonsense. I’m sure the NCAA and their ego won’t like it though. May make it more likely they throw the book at Jim when all this plays itself out.

I don’t think he was being mean, just poking fun. If any of us were good at predicting outcomes we’d be working for Vegas, not posting here lol

This is what Karsh said on the radio broadcast, but they had issues with Peacock too, particularly during replay reviews, when they were trying to tell the audience if JJ had crossed the line or not and Peacock wasn’t showing anything relevant.

Time to pull the starters. ECU is getting dirty.

I don’t think it has to do with $6/mo, it’s that it was just one more f***ing streaming app. When everyone was cutting cable, it was because you could get the local channels and then Netflix and Hulu and you were paying half what you were for cable for content that was just as good. Nowadays people have three favorite shows, all on different streaming platforms, the cost of each has increased x4, and new ones are cropping up daily for even stuff you should get on the local channels (e.g., a Michigan game). It’s more expensive than cable was back in the day.

Hock is better than Golladay. Golladay turned into a pumpkin away from Stafford. Hock arguably played better in Minnesota than he did in Detroit. I'm not sure I would pay any TE not named Travis Kelce that much money though.
-
I think I would have taken LaPorta over Hock even before I knew he would cost $70MM

The Lions just claimed Michael Badgley and I need a beer.

Cardinals claimed Starling Thomas

I’ll be making the trip for this one, I’m excited to see Arrowhead. I expect a very competitive game that is a little sloppy by both teams and could go either way. I don’t expect to see vintage Mahomes (outside maybe a flash or two), and I expect Goff’s streak of zero interceptions to end. I think the offensive line will make even the casual observer say “wow” a few times. We haven’t ever seen this unit as healthy as they are now, because Big V got hurt in the preseason last year. As good as they were last year, the could legitimately be better this year, and Gibbs could make a big splash in his debut as a result. On the defensive side, I’m a little worried for our linebacking corps. I think the Mahomes —> Kelce connection may pick on Anzalone and Campbell and require some safety and nickel help. It’s a tall task to limit Kelce. Given the way CJGJ chirps and the way Kelce has been a hot head in camp, maybe we put those two together and see what comes of it. The biggest question is ultimately going to be cohesion. I’m not super worried about the offense, we are retaining the OC, OL, QB, and WR1. But on the defense, we could be looking at 6 or 7 new faces starting. We will get to see how effective camp was at establishing leadership and getting everyone on the same page. We won’t be able to afford stupid mistakes and holes in coverage.

Agreed. Even all variables aside coming into this specific game, the first few games of every season is a crapshoot while teams figure stuff out and get into the groove. Even if you think the Chiefs are heads-and-shoulders above the Lions (I don’t), worse teams beat better teams all the time in week one. Last year, the Bears beat the 49ers, the Steelers beat the Bengals, the Commies beat the Jaguars, and the Bucs held the Cowboys to 3 points. None of those would be expected in a vacuum, but week one always has unexpected outcomes.
