  1. Lions release standing room only tickets for home opener against Seattle. It might get loud.
  2. Terrible shame to see Rodgers go down like that. If that really is the end of his career, he deserved to go out on better terms.
  3. The jumping to conclusions here is mind boggling. Why should anybody be surprised that the game plan and personnel groupings for week one — after a preseason in which the first team offense barely played at all, and after a suspension of a promising young receiver — included the veteran Marvin Jones? Yes he was ineffective, and his usage in the second half demonstrated the coaching staff’s recognition of this. Maybe MJJ and Ben Johnson should be taken out back and shot. More likely it will take MJJ a bit of game time to develop chemistry with Goff, just like happened with Chark last year. But if the coaching staff believes MJJ has lost it, something tells me we will find out the week Jaymo comes back.
  4. There is a big difference between pick 5 going for over 100 receiving yards in his debut and pick 177 doing it. Also, Stat Padford put a second unheralded receiver over 100 yards yesterday. All Stat Padford does, beyond winning a Super Bowl, is make stars out of wide receivers and get them paid.
  5. Seattle didn’t really have a signature win last year. Maybe their best win was against the Chargers or Giants. But they seem to have thought they would coast by the Rams today and got embarrassed instead. Geno Smith surprised last year, but it is one thing to surprise people and back into the playoffs, and another thing to live up to playoff expectations. The team lost its composure in the second half today. It could happen again next week in a hostile environment.
  6. Look it’s Stat Padford making a star out of another WR.
  7. Yeah, didn’t even finish his NFL debut. Hurts has more structure but I’m guessing he will miss time this season.
  8. Baker Mayfield has a mediocre day and beats Kirk Cousins in Minnesota. Glorious.
  9. Yes, I’ve said it before. (Then got sandbagged by people who missed the point because they don’t like Ditka’s politics.) If you could buy stock in a media personality I would buy stock in MCDC.
  10. Reid is a good coach. Hard to beat him, especially when he’s had time to game plan for you. Yes, they were missing Kelce, but we were missing Jaymo. Yes, they were missing Jones on a holdout, but we were missing Isaiah Buggs trying to keep him fresh for a trade for Mike Evans. 😉
  11. Dan Campbell is on his way to popularity that transcends the NFL. If he wins a Super Bowl — or should I say when — he will become a national media sensation.
  12. How the expectations have turned! The team went out and punked the Super Bowl champions in their home stadium on banner night, holding the league's top scoring offense to 20 points, and we are complaining about snap counts! Is this what it was like for Patriots fans all those years?
  13. Second half: Mahomes went 9-22 for 79 yards and an interception. Secondary looked out of sync in first half. Chalk it up to a total overhaul and the decision not to play the starters together in preseason. But the second half really showed what they are capable of.
  14. Can someone ask MCDC what the crew on the field told him about this? Because number 74 could have been called for ten penalties last night.
  15. Oof… that’s one more ball for them to put on the turf.
  16. Lions DL, led by Hutchinson, is harassing Mahomes.
  17. I said in the other thread that this defense might finish in the top five in INTs. They looked out of sync in the first half but they have some ballhawks.
  18. Jack Campbell should have had a pick.
  19. Secondary is playing together in a game setting for the first time. On the plus side everyone made it out of the preseason healthy. On the minus side they were out of sync in the first half.
  20. Number 74 is moving early every snap. Edit: Even Collinsworth had to point it out.
  21. Their RT is starting early every play. Hasn’t been called once.
  22. This defense could end up in the top five in the NFL in interceptions this year.
