  1. 😂 Sorry, I’m not trying to give anyone too hard of a time, but it’s been a long offseason. We need some real football to cool down the rumor mill.
  2. We fans think of injuries as part of the game, and they are, but it can make us take for granted the physical, mental, and emotional demands they place on players. I tip my hat to these guys who make it back from injuries. Nothing in life is given, certainly not the right to play a sport at the highest level. I admire Levi’s determination to return.
  3. How did we go from an inevitable decision not to suit up a player from the team’s deepest unit to speculation about a pre-game trade for Chris Jones? Mind boggling. Anyway, things are shaping up nicely for the Lions to steal a game early.
  4. I don’t begrudge him the money. He’s a good player and seems like a decent dude. But OMG I’m glad Holmes didn’t pay him.
  5. 4D chess. All in on Caleb Williams.
  6. Jerry wants this to turn dramatic. That will mean that Lance has done something to demonstrate his potential. But what a bust for San Fran. Should be more embarrassing for them than it is but they lucked out by having Mr. Irrelevant turn out to be Mr. Competent. What might all those first round picks have done to get SF over the hump?
  7. Detroit goes 11-6, wins NFC North, gets third seed, plays #6 Seattle in the Wild Card round, wins that elusive playoff game but loses to #2 seed Philly in the Divisional round. A statue to Dan Campbell is erected outside of Ford Field.
  8. WUT? I'm assuming he is holding a gumball.
  9. Walter Football is a little bit of a cartoon. Still he was almost right in hyping Detroit last year. If not for a few painful late losses early in the season he might have been seen as clairvoyant. I don’t expect Detroit to make the Super Bowl, but if Goff only throws 7 picks next year, anything could happen.
  10. Agree. Not overrated but probably overhyped. Being overhyped is a byproduct of them having finished the season as hot as any other team in the league and having had perhaps the best offseason of any other team in the league. NFL media being what it is, someone is overhyped every offseason. Might as well be Detroit.
  11. Can you imagine how high the hype meter will go if they should happen to beat KC on opening night?
  12. What really gets me excited as a sports fan is issuing meaningless ultimatums to my team.
  13. I don’t care about Zadina one way or the other. He seems to have butted heads with two different coaching staffs but couldn’t get it done their way or his. Good riddance.
  14. Last year’s team was relying on big numbers from Vrana and Bertuzzi if they were going to compete. They got something like 40 games between the two of them. Rasmussen got hurt, and they ended up playing a lot of mediocre hockey players. At the end of the year they just fell apart. Now they are solid up and down the roster, and there are kids with high ceilings who may fight their way into the lineup, or get called up if injuries become an issue. Their record may not be much better next year but they won’t have nights where they give up eight goals.
  15. SY didn’t bargain against himself with Ottawa and he didn’t bargain against himself with ADB. He got deals done with both on his terms and on his timeline. What a masterful job.
  16. Stevie Y putting on a GM clinic. Amazing.
  17. If Stevie Y can pull off this trade and keep the extension to five years, that would be quite a feat.
  18. I was thinking the same thing. If he really requests to get out of a $4 million contract there is almost no imaginable scenario in which he makes it up.
  19. Another guy who far overestimated his value. It will be a long time before he makes up that $4 million.
  20. The longer it drags out, it seems, the better it is for Detroit. ADB wants to be in Detroit. Stevie Y doesn’t want to overpay in assets, in AAV, or in term. A week ago there were like six teams in the running. Now there are two, with reports that the player has been told he far overvalued himself.
  21. Yeah, it’s not a big deal either way. But I think he’ll have to pass through waivers again before going to GR. And I think Steve was candid in his comments about Zadina. He’s got some skills, he’s been hindered by injury, but he has an overinflated sense of his market value.
  22. I'm not an expert on NHL contracts but I'm pretty sure they have to pay him if they cut him, unless they buy him out. But why buy him out at this point? Just send him to GR. If he figures something out, which is not totally out of the question, call him back up. If not, maybe you move him later or just let him play out his contract. Pure speculation, but you can imagine a guy like him having an over-inflated sense of his value and not being very coachable.
  23. Or Yzerman has been hearing Zadina and his agent chirping that he needs more ice time and if they aren’t going to play him, trade him. And Yzerman hung him out there and nobody wanted him. So if he ever wants to play in this league he should go to GR and do what the coaches tell him.
  24. This has been my issue all along. Unless there are massive checks in place, someone is using this info to play (or change) the odds.
