Yes, I was making light of the argument that after Mahogany got injured on Sunday, Brad should have traded for an OL by the trade deadline at 4pm that Tuesday. I have also been critical of Brad’s tendency to reach in the middle rounds. I never liked Hooker. Martin at least had the physical attributes that you sometimes go out of your way to acquire. Manu does too, and hopefully he finally works out. I am not concerned about TeSlaa. They are very slow about bringing on rookies. And the WR room is stacked so it is no surprise TeSlaa has not gotten a lot of snaps. But he clearly has skills that translate to the NFL.

Holmes should have traded for a TE. Moran.

Yes, the standings are pretty inconsistent with a goal differential of zero. That said, points are points. Mac has done a good job of holding players accountable. He has done a good job of integrating the kids. It is clear the kids have some real talent. This team is losing the feel of Dead Wings they’ve had for a few seasons. I could see this being a place where a guy with a no trade clause might be willing to come if they are still competitive at the deadline, and where a high end free agent might decide to sign.

With players of this caliber returning to a defense that is fifth best in YPG allowed and tenth in PPG allowed, hopefully we can get back to more splash plays defensively that shorten the field for the offense.

It was an impressive play. You don’t score a goal like that by accident. Edit: Also the assist. Great vision and patience with the puck. Knew what he was doing to draw defense and make space for the shooter. And executed a perfect pass. He demonstrated a lot as a playmaker and a finisher.

I do sometimes wonder if they keep certain tactics in their back pocket for teams like KC and Philly that they are likely to see again in the postseason.

Detroit has lost to both of last year’s Super Bowl contenders and to two division rivals. Not great but not the end of the world. The defense looks good and will still get multiple starters back before the end of the season. The offense just needs to go on a heater.

It was a disappointing offensive performance — the worst we’ve seen since the Baltimore debacle — but they gave up just 16 points to the defending champion on their home field. Again, it was a hell of a bad time to be without your starting guard and pro bowl TE. Now is time to get some reps for TeSlaa. He has ridiculous athletic ability but needs to earn trust from Goff. He could be another weapon in the postseason, which this team will make.
