  1. For all the complaining about Campbell’s playcalling, Jared Goff had a passer rating of 121.8. Jared Goff! And he only took one sack and had one fumble, with no interceptions, which was his best performance this season in terms of minimizing disastrous plays.
  2. I think the problem is that the guys with their panties in a bunch about Campbell are upset that some of the rest of us don’t have our panties in a bunch about him. The franchise gave a six year contract to a head coach who, for all intents and purposes, is a rookie. OK, that means they believe in him as a leader and are going to give him time to put a staff around himself and learn. Anyone who doesn’t get this is not paying attention That staff will almost certainly include a new OC, and that was obvious from the time he brought on a recently fired HC. Maybe Campbell wants to call the plays so he can think in more detail about what he wants from that role. (But I do hope some guys from the board here will scribble some plays on napkins and send them to Allen Park, then keep us posted on how that goes.) That staff may also include someone who handles game management. Anyway, I’m still not sure how many points people think Campbell left on the board with his unpardonable coaching blunders. But maybe he kept the Bears defense from clobbering Goff into additional turnovers by being conservative after the damaged OL backed the team up a few times 30+ yards behind the sticks. It is hard to come back from six holding penalties, especially when you have no WRs and your best RB is injured.
  3. I didn’t say he is beyond criticism. I said your criticism of him is inane. Big difference.
  4. “Free pass.” What do you propose to do? Burn some jerseys? Write a sternly worded letter? Draw and quarter him? Maybe you and TP want to script the first fifteen plays and get a hotline set up so you can advise him on his use of timeouts.
  5. Another delusional fan who thinks the Lions would be playoff bound if only the coach would send five guys on deep pass routes every play. “tHe plAyCalliNg suX!” Everybody knew from the start that Campbell was an inexperienced coach. Everybody knew from the start that the roster is bereft of talent (and that was before Ragnow and Swift got injured). Everybody knew this team was going to be in the running for the first pick in the draft. They are right on schedule for that. There are no surprises.
  6. They don’t trust Goff and they are calling a conservative game plan. Even so, the OL got six (I think) holding penalties and a handful of false starts. And Goff had a fumble as well. But yeah they should have been chucking it all around the yard. 🤦🏻‍♂️ This is not a good team. They do not have good players. Everyone is building for 2024, Campbell included.
  7. Just based on his history as a head coach (who may just as easily have been retained by his previous team as let go) it seemed clear that he was hoping to be with Detroit for a bounce back season, then to move back to a head coaching role. In the meantime, it seemed clear that Campbell prized his head coaching experience and his ability to mentor some of the young coaching prospects the team had attracted. Alas, it doesn't seem to be working out the way anyone expected.
  8. Yes, thank you. Everybody knew after Tweedledum and Tweedledee left that the team was going to be a disaster, especially after Stafford begged out. There was some optimism that Goff would be adequate, but here we are. There is a reason Campbell got a six year contract. It is a massive rebuild, and with a six year deal, they are promising him at least four years to get the team in playoff shape. He will need it. It is not a good look for Anthony Lynn to get play calling duties revoked, but I would bet money that this is something that Campbell and Spielman talked about extensively before it happened.
  9. I wonder if anyone has ever told him that he can "climb the ladder" in the pocket.
  10. LOLOLOL!!! Of course he missed it. But now... WTF... Is Pittsburgh trying to lose?
  11. On second thought, 1.6 YPA is... no that is as bad as it looks.
  12. 113 rushing yards. When is the last time we saw that in a half of football? 11 passing yards. When is the last time we saw that in a half of football? Geez, in today's NFL, you have to be bad bad bad only to muster 11 passing yards in a half.
  13. Goff is not a smart man.
  14. Yes. Just imagine if we had a QB who could really open up the running game.
  15. Say what you will about Campbell, but I can't remember a Lions running game that regularly moves the pile 3-5 years as they did on that Swift carry late in the 2nd. The running game is not there yet, but it is looking up.
  16. Well if not for Campbell they’d already be 13-0! /s
  17. Goff's revenge: He engineers a garbage time drive which leads to a last second field goal that makes the final score 38-23, just narrowly covering the spread.
  18. It is possible that Holmes never meant anything he said about Goff after the trade.
  19. Yes, he has traded for Goff twice. This is a red flag.
  20. What about that post suggested that finding a QB like Stafford was easy?
  21. I thought Goff might be OK. He’s worse than I thought possible.

  23. I get it, but really, we are going to get offended as fans because the team tried and failed to obtain some return for an asset they valued at zero? Like the team owes us as fans complete and accurate information on every call they receive? Maybe they ought to dial all of us up on draft night as well.
