For the record, I am and have been a long time proponent of diplomacy and dialog. Even if it's with some of the most despicable people in the world. Anytime we can avoid conflict or war and find a peaceful solution, I'm all for it. I had no problem for example when Trump met with Kim of North Korea. I actually commended him for the attempted diplomatic relations and still do. This was not that though. This was not likely good faith diplomacy. This was one grifter meeting with another. Why, I don't know. We need more details and transparency on this one. I can only imagine if Barack Obama tried to do something like this though. It would be a full scale, nuclear meltdown over it happening for weeks, months, and years to come.

He's the President, not the King. You have no obligation to say yes to him. He's an ordinary citizen who works for the people the same as you and I. We need to stop putting Presidents on pedestals. I don't care if it's a Democrat or Republican, Obama or Trump. Hell, if my guy Bernie Sanders were President I wouldn't want, not expect, a sports TV work to let him rant for 20 minutes about whatever political subject he wants, even if I agreed with him. Presidents need to be treated like people, not kings.

They aren't built or going to be the Red Wings of old with multiple 80-90 point guys. They aren't going to be the Oilers or Avalanche of today either. They aren't going to beat you with skill and top-end talent alone. Without a true #1 center, allowing Larkin to slide to the second line, I don't think they can become that type of team either. Without one or more 90 point + producers on this team, they won't have the ability to beat you simply on the skill level and scoring ability of their players. And I don't see anywhere they can land a top center or a wing (multiple) capable of putting up 90+ points. Rather, this team has to be built in the vein of St. Louis in 2019, Vegas from the 2023, or the Florida Panthers from the past few years. They are going to need to be a hard forechecking, defensively smart team with great goaltending to back it all up. They're going to need tough, gritty forecheckers who can still score goals, while being a problem to play against by wearing you down over the course of a game. Larkin needs to be for us what Reinhart is for the Panthers. We need Bear, Brandsegg-Nygard, Danielson, and Finne to develop into what Bennett, Marchad, Tkachuk, and Verhaeghe are as forwards. We need Edvinsson, Sandin-Pelika, Sieder, develop into what Ekblad and Forsling are on defense. Last, but certainly not least, one of Augustine or Cossa has to develop into a goalie capable of stealing games on his own like Bobrovsky is as a goalie.

I feel like we haven't heard much from Williams in several games. He's a rookie, so no big deal at the moment. Now he's likely sharing more minutes with McNeil and Reader both healthy and in the lineup.

I agree that many of our current problems go back to the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine and the rise of right wing radio. As was mentioned by Edman also, social media algorithms and the monetization of rage are huge problems that have poisoned our politics and given rise to MAGA. Bill Clinton also deserves to be criticized as well for his disastrous era of deregulation. In particular, deregulation that effected media monopolies and broadcast rights. When Bubba signed into law the 1996 Telecommunications Act, that had big implications on media consolidation and the spread of right wing talk radio. Sure, Rush Limbaugh was around before this act was adopted. But, the 1996 Telecommunications Act allowed for more Rush Limbaugh's like Mark Levine, Michael Savage, etc. to be broadcast all over America, reaching new audiences.

It's funny to me that Fox fired Mark Sanchez, but will give a convicted rapist broadcast time on air.

Remember when MAGA cried so hard over Colin Kapernick that he got canceled.

The NFL allowing Fox to do this is unreal. Roger Goodell is a man who cares about money above all else. For him to risk it for politics on one of his broadcasts is insane.

The Lions took care of business today and dominated from start to finish. They did what they needed to do and clearly played like the better team. It's what I hoped to see before the game.
