  1. I don't know, wouldn't Gym Jordan be a better lighting rod to campaign against than Johnson? I get that Johnson is MAGA Mike and is himself a Trump-loving Congressman. But I think Johnson comes across as far more presentable and far less crazy to average voters versus a guy like Jordan who comes across as out of touch with reality. There's also the fact that he was apart of covering up sexual abuse of athletes at Ohio State when he was the wrestling coach. That seems like a better lightning rod to attack and go after to me. One of the things the Republicans have always effectively done in the past is to nationalize elections and make Democratic leaders toxic lightning rods in the eyes of voters in races across the country. They run ads showcasing Candidate X with the like of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and bait voters into believing Democratic leadership are bad, maniacal people. Democrats have done some of that with Mitch McConnell in the past in their ads, but it doesn't feel like they have to the extent the Republicans have. Jordan seems like a far scarier person to present and sell to the voters than Johnson.
  2. Why wouldn't he sign with Dallas then because they're a bunch of pussies.
  3. Michael Thomas seems a shell of his former self and hasn't played a full season in over 3 years. He gets injured all the time, probably even too much for Brad Holmes. I know the Saints connection is there but that dude is washed and is always hurt. No thanks on Michael Thomas. Tyler Boyd and DJ Chark are probably the only two free agent wideouts I have significant interest in right now. Maybe some interest in Zay Jones and Hunter Renfroe. If we're going all in why not trade for Tee Higgins and really go all in. Ain't nobody gonna even be thinking about that first round pick next year when we're hoisting a Lombardi Trophy. In all seriousness, as much as I would love Tee Higgins, we can't afford the #1 WR money he will command with all the players we still need to pay. But it would be fun as hell to have him on this offense for one year and win a Lombardi with him.
  4. I think the coaching staff and the culture they have developed is a big part of this as well. Players actually want to play hard for this staff and respects them. Contrast the culture they have built now with that of Matt Patricia. An overweight guy, who didn't play football, sat in a golf cart, yelled at players, and allegedly showed up late to team meetings. Who wants to fight and play hard for that guy or his staff?
  5. Who needs bro country when you have amazing country artists like Zach Top out there. Turn off country radio and turn on the other thousands places you can access music today and discover real, good, quality country music like Zach Top.
  6. Saw this question on HFBoards so I will ask it here. Would the Wings have faired any better against the Rangers than the Capitals did?
  7. Tampa needs to do what Kenny should have done around 2014ish. They need to tear down their roster and rebuild it. They should have a Wayne Huizenga, Florida Marlins 1997 style fire sale. They likely won't though and will try like many for championship teams past their prime to limp along with the false hope of somehow, someway, winning another one.
  8. Their intermission reports were the opposite of their broadcasts. Somehow a mild mannered hockey broadcast led by the likes of Bob Cole, Harry Neale, and Jim Houghson became a raucous affair at intermission thanks to Coach's Corner. This . . . Turned into this . . .
  9. Netanyahu, himself a xenophobic, Islamophobic world leader, has used the phrase. As have members of the Israeli parliamentary. I am frankly troubled by either side using it. Palestine and Israel both have a right to exist as free peoples, living in free nation states. This ideal that Israel should just up and vacate is as ridiculous as Netanyahu's belief that Israel should control the entire region and there should be no Palestinian state.
  10. I'm beginning to lose respect for some protestors on the Palestinian side based on some troubling things I have seen at some of these protests. One of those things is this idea that a State of Israel shouldn't even exist at all. Now, I've been all in favor of Israeli settlements being curtailed or stopped all together. I've been in favor of Palestinians getting swaths of land that was stolen back. I've been in favor of a real, genuine, two-state solution. But one thing I am not in favor of, is Israel just ceasing to exist as a nation state. That's why I do get troubled when I hear chants of "from the river to the sea" from westerners in America. Just a thought on that note, if you believe Israel stole land from Palestinian people and shouldn't exist as a nation state, shouldn't you yourself then do research as to what indigenous tribe once inhabited the land where your home is now? And shouldn't you return to whatever Euro-Asian country your ancestors came from and winningly give their land back to native and indigenous people whose tribes may have once inhabited that land?
  11. This is dangerous and bull**** stupidity. Free speech and free press are the hallmark of this country and of any, good, free society. These kids look ignorant and frankly dangerous to free speech and press by not allowing any and all press into their encampment. I've been all for the Palestinian cause throughout this process, but seeing things like this, encircling and pushing up against police, bullying of anyone who isn't 100% likeminded, and chants that are clearly not anti-war but anti-Semitic like "from the river to the sea" and chants calling for the destruction of Israel as a state do this movement and people who participate in it no good.
  12. So essentially everyone that is expected to win their opening series is going to win it looks like except Dallas. It doesn't seem like there will be any upsets happening sans maybe Dallas. That series isn't close to in the books yet an losing to the defending Stanley Cup champs is exactly a major upset.
  13. Quebec Nordiques should be one of the team name choices. 🙂
  14. Oh no, I didn't realize Bob Cole had died. Unless the Wings were on Pass or FSN on a Saturday night, I would always make it a point to watch HNIC on Saturday's along with HBO Boxing. I loved Bob Cole as an announcer and he is one of the very best to do it in the game of hockey and sports. This is very sad to hear. RIP Bob Cole.
  15. I've been starting to do some research of my own by reading up on and watching videos from this years crop of draft prospects. Stan, Sloth or anyone that follows juniors/international juniors/colligate hockey who are prospects the Wings could realistically be looking at in this years draft? I'd like to see us build up our depth at forward and get a pure goal scorer if that player exists when we pick. Last year I wanted one of Zach Benson or Colby Barlow as they projected as such and we didn't draft either. Is this a forwarded heavy draft, defensive heavy draft, balanced, or a weak draft class? Do we have a shot at the Tij Iginla who is Jerome Iginla's son? He seems like a dynamic goal scorer who could play wing or center. Berkly Catton, Liam Greentree, Cayden Lindstrom are some other prospects of interest to me that fit the goal scoring mode. Are these guys that would realistically be there when the Wings pick? Who are we looking at?
  16. This is the definition of an A+ draft. I'm as critical and cynical as they come sometimes, but Brad Holmes and company hit a grand slam here. To get 5 quality starters out of a draft, with two of them being all pros and another being Pro Bowl caliber, is absurd in the NFL. It doesn't get any better than a draft like this for the Lions or any NFL team. This is an A+ draft and would be an A++ if Levi weren't likely trending to be a bust due to injuries.
  17. Which NFC North team do you feel had the best overall draft and offseason? Which one do you think will be the biggest threat to the Lions not just next year, but over the next several years?
  18. Acknowledge Me!
  19. I was reading through his NFL scouting report and it said that Mahogany has chance to be a backup with upside early in his career. He also seems like a power run blocker. So maybe in the right system he can become a starter. Here's to hoping that's the case.
  20. I guess I need the Motown KGB to enlighten us as to how many times we're allowed to talk about a particular player then. I'll go back and check my handbook.
  21. Yes, I have a few different disappointments, though not major ones, from this offseason as a whole. First is from free agency and not the draft itself. I still would like someone to ask Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell, and/or Aaron Glenn why they targeted Carlton Davis and traded a draft pick to acquire him versus going after Kendall Fuller. From scouting reports and stats I've read, and the poor man's eye test of watching football, Fuller is the better of the two players and is better in man coverage. As well, Fuller isn't any more expensive than Davis was. In-fact, when you account for the value of draft capital, he's actually a better value. I would have rather had Fuller + 3rd round pick than Davis. Regarding the draft, my disappointments, though minor, were around not addressing the interior of the offensive line by picking a future starter, not drafting any WR at all, and not drafting a kicker. They have two interior guards over 30 years old. One of whom is 34 and on a one year deal in Zeitler. The other is 31. They also have a center, who while not old, has been playing banged up and bruised this past season. I really would have liked to have come out of this draft with a Zach Frazier, Cooper Bebe, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Zak Zinter type of IOL. Someone who can sit behind Zeitler or Ragnow for a year and then take over for one of them next year. I guess I am more surprised than mad that they didn't take an IOL who projects to be a future starter. I would have loved to have seen them take a big-bodied, X WR in this draft. Even if that guy projects to be a late round project, I would have liked to have gotten a deep threat, contested catch type of player. I still feel X receiver is a need for this offense, though not a glaring one if Jamo steps up. A couple of guys I would have considered in the 3rd or 4th rounds would have been Troy Franklin and Jalen McMillen. Last is the lack of taking a kicker in the 7th round. Some competition at camp for Michael Badgley would have been nice. I don't dislike Badgley and don't think he's a terrible kicker, but bringing someone else in would have been nice. All and all, I am very happy with what Brad Holmes and co. did this offseason. Even the disagreements or disappointments I have are very minor compared to drafts and ghosts of GMs past. Once again, there were no Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, Jordan Dizon, Eric Ebron, Jahlani Tavai type of terrible picks that makes me angry or walking away hating the draft. Nor were there any free agent moves or trades that left me upset or full of despair. This was a very good draft for the first two rounds and a very good offseason as a whole by Holmes and the Lions.
  22. I guess we're rolling with Badgley unless we sign a UDFA or bring in a camp body.
  23. So no WR and no kicker in this draft. I really hope Michael Badgley isn't their only plan at kicker.
  24. FINALLY, an interior offensive lineman. Glad to see it. I was hoping we'd get a potential future starter much sooner than this.
  25. Just Brad Holmes type of player. As injury value special.
