  1. Would you draft Calijah Kancey at #6?
  2. So if Lamar gets traded to the Colts, I would assume the Ravens get the #4 overall pick. I would also assume the Anthony Richardson would be there and would be Baltimore's pick. Trading one QB who had accuracy and throwing concerns coming into the league for another is bit ironic.
  3. If the Lions were trading for a WR would you rather Courtland Sutton or DeAndre Hopkins?
  4. Damn! Oh well, time to address Linebacker in the draft.
  5. My guess as to Chark's logic is that he'll get to be the #1 WR now in Carolina and not be the third guy on the roster. He'll get more target share and thus more opportunity to showcase himself. He knows Detroit already has their top two WRs for the foreseeable future and Carolina doesn't. So he can showcase himself more there and possibly get a long term deal from them to be their top guy.
  6. I would take one of the Corners before Skoronski too. Gonzalez being my first choice. It's just that I don't believe Dave Birkett is way off base with his take that they could take him at #6. Especially if they believe he is capable of being a Tackle too or if they view him along the lines of a Quenton Nelson type of a Guard. The Lions and this regime values really good offensive lineman and players who give them versatility. Skoronski could give them both.
  7. Would you take someone who could be a starting Tackle at #6? If so, I think Skoronski is in that group with Paris Johnson Jr. as a high end Tackle prospect and will get top 10 consideration, potentially at #6.
  8. They might look at him as a Guard for now and then transition him over to Tackle to replace Taylor Decker after this season. I'm not saying I'd pick Skoronski, but I wouldn't write him off as being an option at #6.
  9. That's why I think Quetin Johnston is on their draft board. I don't know that they'll value him at #6 but in a trade back scenario or moving up from #18, I could see the team valuing him.
  10. Damn, HBO is doing a Jason Isbell documentary. That wasn't something I had on my radar for 2023. Really excited to watch this when it comes out.
  11. I think he's completely off their draft board. Beyond his legal troubles, I think him showing up to the combine out of shape and looking lazy during drills soured them. Short of something crazy like him being there in the 3rd round or later, they aren't drafting him period.
  12. I think with Chark gone this increases the chances that they take a guy like Quetin Johnston from TCU in the first round. Johnston is the kind of tall, big-bodied, contested catch receiver that they need in lieu of losing Chark.
  13. The fact that they aren't spending $5-$6-$7+ million on a backup QB does actually give me hope that they are planning to make a splash move here in the near future.
  14. I think there is potentially real value in trading for Jeffery Simmons. He's only 25 and is a very productive player both getting at the QB and in stopping the run. He provides the Lions D with the versatility they covet too being able to slide along the line at DT and Edge. Anyone you draft at #18 you only hope can be as good as Simmons, like a DT like Clijah Kancey or Bryan Bresee. If Simmons really is unhappy with his contract situation with the Titans and if they are in the process of doing a rebuild, he presents the perfect opportunity to trade the #18 pick to go and get.
  15. If Brad Holmes and the Lions have the ability to make a splash move with the cap space they've cleared up recently which of the following moves would you like to see them make given the choices. I only included choices that are realistic or heavily rumored. A. Trade for Lamar Jackson (this one might not be realistic at this point) B. Trade for DeAndre Hopkins C. Trade for Austin Eckler D. Trade for Jerry Jeudy or Cortland Sutton E. Trade for Derrick Henry F. Trade for Jeffery Simmons G. Sign Bobby Wagner and DJ Chark
  16. Unless Willis is a total trainwreck in practice and just isn't developing or showing an understanding of the playbook, I'd have to think they'd give him a year to start this season. At he'd get to start for part of the season.
  17. I did a mock draft where I selected no defensive players in the first round but did trade our pick at #18 to the Titans for Jeffery Simmons.
  18. If you're the Titans and you just hired a new GM and are already shopping around Derek Henry, aren't you just in a full rebuild mode at this point? If so, I'd think #18 for Simmons or #18 + a late round pick for Simmons is a deal I'd do. Tennessee has 6 picks and if you are rebuilding, which they should be, you should want all the draft capital possible.
  19. Aren't we losing out then by having to move back 5 spots and getting only Simmons and #11 in return based on the Buckner trade and based on the NFL draft points chart? There is a 350 point differential between picks #6 and picks #11 on the Jimmy Johnson chart and the Buckner trade was an even 1 for 1 swap. Shouldn't the Titans either have to give up an additional pick, maybe a 3rd through 5th, or accept our two 2nd round picks instead of #18? What trade looks like the most equitable value for both the Titans and Lions. As well the most realistic one that both teams would accept? I think scenario #2 is probably the most equitable for both teams involved. Scenario #1: Lions get: Jeffery Simmons + Titans pick at #11 Titans get: Detroit's pick at #6 and #18 Scenario #2: Lions get: Jeffery Simmons + Titans pick at #11 + 3rd round pick (for having to move back 5 spots) Titans get: Detroit's pick at #6 and #18 Scenario #3: Lions get: Jeffery Simmons + Titans pick at #11 Titans get: Detroit's pick at #6 + 2 2nd round picks at #48 and #55
  20. What price do the Titans pay though for moving up to #6 and what compensation do we get for moving down to #11? Because the Deforest Buckner trade set the market for this type of trade and that was a straight up swap of Buckner for the Colts 1st round pick. This would not be. In this scenario, we are expected to move back 5 spots and not get any compensation for it. The compensation for the Titans trading Simmons is the #18 pick, but where is our compensation for moving back 5 spots?
  21. I like the idea of acquiring Jeffery Simmons a lot as he fills our biggest remaining need on the team, an interior pass rusher and run stopper. That said, the asking price for Simmons shouldn't be two 1sts. If AJ Brown only netted Tennessee one 1st then why would Simmons be deserving of two? #18 overall for Simmons or #18 plus a 3rd or later round pick should get it done if the Deforest Buckner trade is any market indicator. If we don't get back Tennessee's pick at #11 and we have to trade both #6 and #18 I'd be out on Simmons. #6 + #18 is a massive overpay for him. I even think that the asking price for moving up for Tennessee should potentially include Detroit hanging onto the pick at #18 and instead giving up the two 2nd round picks instead. Tennessee has to pay a price for moving up and compensating us for dropping out of the top 10. I think that compensation would be us getting to hang onto #18 and them instead getting our two 2nd round picks. So a trade in that scenario would look like this. Detroit gets: Jeffery Simmons + Tennessee's 2023 pick at #11 Tennessee gets: Detroit's 2023 pick at #6 + picks #48 & #55 in the 2nd round
  22. At least he laid the foundation for a solid offensive line for Holmes to build off of, so it wasn't all for nothing.
  23. That's perfect. Just enough space to now go and sign Bobby Wagner for 2 years @ $13 million with $8 million guaranteed up front for the first year.
  24. Matt Dery had Lions Beat Writer Justin Rogers on his Locked On Lions podcast today. Rogers threw in his opinion of the Jalen Carter to the Lions situation. He said he got the vibe from talking to people at the combine and based on Carter's terrible Pro Day that the Lions would pass on drafting Carter. He thinks Carter is not a character fit for what this team is trying to build from a culture standpoint and feels his work ethic isn't up to par for what they are looking for.
  25. Could be Chark? Could be Charlie Batch? Maybe Scott Mitchell?
