    will note that Ian Anderson, huge part of 2 post seasons and a WS run for the Braves, was just demoted. player development is not a straight line. and if Tork's problems could be fixed with 2 weeks in Toledo, they would have done that in June. i am concerned that his bat looks slow which screams Stewart to me.

    We know Ilitch was consulted because the Tigers threw in $16M. that simply does not happen without Ilitch's approval. While he can ask Avila to explain the logic behind trading JV, not sure how Ilitch can really perform any due diligence on the trade otherwise. he needs to be comfortable with Avila's explanation for why acquiring these 3 players for a HOF pitcher makes sense. to me Ilitch was saying it was a baseball move by a GM - not a contract clearing move by an owner; perhaps that is a more generous explanation than he deserves

    the amount of trade value that he just let wither away is shocking. he was always waiting for a desperate team to overpay for decent players. waiting for someone else to fail rather than having his own success. and when that never happened, he sold when players were at their lowest value. with Boyd he never pulled the trigger. as you say he was never going to outsmart anyone, but he could have just settled on market value and gotten solid returns. or maybe he could not even do that.

    not just coaches but players too. no need to hold onto Daz to try to make JV trade less horrible; no need to hold on Victor to show how great Al is at stealing crap from other team's toilets; hopefully significant value in that freedom

    randomly might be easier for new guy to let Miggy know he is done, rather than the guy who signed him as a teenager Al actually was better in recent years, but he had a horrible start to his GM career they simply did not have to be this bad, for this long wonder if there was one thing that triggered this? or maybe just the sea of sh\t got to be too much lots of interesting recent hires from other clubs; would we count one of them as from "outside" organization?

    some people were claiming AJ was the shadow GM, and every positive move was his doing that, like his opt out, is a distant recent memory

    intentionally have not listened to him for months; he is in even worse shape today; for those of us who have seen this up close, hard to not pity him; I know that is not a popular opinion, but really it is the first thing I think when I hear him

    so many of these bills are normal, measured legislation (just look at progressive twitter's outrage for confirmation of that)

    2 Thompson notes: he is under control for at least 3 more years, so that would be thru Year 10 of 20 of The Rebuild; and his WAR is not that high on every site, but regardless it would be the biggest WAR on the Tigers

    this is small potatoes but has been bugging me. Can someone explain the Trayce Thompson move? The Tigers pick him up after Padres release him (not surprising with various ex-Dodgers now in organization; he had his best run with them). He hits 8 HR in a month at Toledo, and then the Tigers sell him to the Dodgers, where he has put up 1.4 WAR in limited playing time. So the guy who could not get ABs with this garbage team is a rotational piece for the best team in the NL? Again, swing and miss.

    not much reason to trust the Tigers making the correct call, but they have been generally aggressive with Tork and Greene; also Carpenter, Meadows, Pacheco, Wencel, Lipcius, Madden, Bergner were all promoted. hope Carpenter and Kreidel get long looks in September in Det and Sanchez, Dingler, Couch all up makes sense to me; just let Tucker go and end that embarrassment

    The Rangers had Prince Fielder on the DL for a year because their insurance on their share only kicked in if he was injured and not released. They worked it out with the insurance company to release him and freed up a 40 man roster spot. Assuming that Tigers do have insurance. Assuming that they cannot avail themselves of it if Miggy says he can play.
