  1. what is it they are seeing - or expect to see - from Willi and Victor? just move on, please god, no more
  2. something else Avila was really bad at. this is just one part, but a big part, of asset management. you have got to know your prospects best. should you keep them or trade them? if DD is doing the trading, assume he gets is right almost all the time, with a few fails, and some absolute steals
  3. so Wis finally stopped flushing taxpayer money down the toilet on the fake Stop the Steal investigation, but the damage has been done.
  4. first interview question should be, what would you do with Miggy? "that is ultimately your call to pay him $40M not to play, but I would advise that we move on from him as Miggy is exceedingly unlikely to provide even average production from the DH spot, which can better be used by players who need a rest or are defensively deficient."
  5. Back to using "Hussein" ; so 2016.
  6. trying to be rational about P Meadows; pretty amazing turn around from a guy who had horrible results his first few years
  7. yours is better
  8. untalented team that plays bad = lots of losses
  9. all lies all the time
  10. Willi Castro is not an infielder. Also, here is Willi making an error at 3b. Why is this guy getting dozens of chances? Cannot someone else get a chance to fail?
  11. will note that Ian Anderson, huge part of 2 post seasons and a WS run for the Braves, was just demoted. player development is not a straight line. and if Tork's problems could be fixed with 2 weeks in Toledo, they would have done that in June. i am concerned that his bat looks slow which screams Stewart to me.
  12. We know Ilitch was consulted because the Tigers threw in $16M. that simply does not happen without Ilitch's approval. While he can ask Avila to explain the logic behind trading JV, not sure how Ilitch can really perform any due diligence on the trade otherwise. he needs to be comfortable with Avila's explanation for why acquiring these 3 players for a HOF pitcher makes sense. to me Ilitch was saying it was a baseball move by a GM - not a contract clearing move by an owner; perhaps that is a more generous explanation than he deserves
  13. the amount of trade value that he just let wither away is shocking. he was always waiting for a desperate team to overpay for decent players. waiting for someone else to fail rather than having his own success. and when that never happened, he sold when players were at their lowest value. with Boyd he never pulled the trigger. as you say he was never going to outsmart anyone, but he could have just settled on market value and gotten solid returns. or maybe he could not even do that.
  14. not just coaches but players too. no need to hold onto Daz to try to make JV trade less horrible; no need to hold on Victor to show how great Al is at stealing crap from other team's toilets; hopefully significant value in that freedom
  15. randomly might be easier for new guy to let Miggy know he is done, rather than the guy who signed him as a teenager Al actually was better in recent years, but he had a horrible start to his GM career they simply did not have to be this bad, for this long wonder if there was one thing that triggered this? or maybe just the sea of sh\t got to be too much lots of interesting recent hires from other clubs; would we count one of them as from "outside" organization?
  16. yeah don't see how that successfully translates to the majors
  17. off waivers from Cubs; building him up to be September starter when young guys hit pitch limits
  18. so bad and so dull what a horrible product
